Bush indifferent over falling poll numbers
Tell me you wouldn't like to smack the chimp one time.

WASHINGTON - The public's dissatisfaction with President Bush and the Republican-led Congress is growing, with ratings dropping amid record high gas prices, war in Iraq, the Social Security debate and the emotional Terri Schiavo case.

The Republican president's job approval is at 44 percent, with 54 percent disapproving. Only 37 percent have a favorable opinion of the work being done by Congress, according to an AP-Ipsos poll.

The president was asked Friday about his falling ratings in some polls, and he claimed indifference.

"Some of them were going up the other day," he responded as he flew back from Rome on Air Force One. "You can find them going up and you can find them going down. You can pretty much find out what you want in polls is my point."

Bush's job approval was at 49 percent in January, the same month in which he was sworn in for a second term, while Congress' was at 41 percent.

Support for the president's approach to his top domestic priority, Social Security, remained at 36 percent, while 58 percent oppose it.

7. Future Elections
You would think that even if the current president does not care about his ratings that the Republican party would care. They do have future elections to be concerned about!

11. Future electinos ??
You are talking about election 2008, based on *'s poll # now ?

His poll numbers just THREE MONTHS before the election didn't matter when he himself running, and you are talking about some other candidate FOUR years from now, based on *'s poll numbers today !

Poll numbers more than a week before the election don't mean a thing.

Of course he's indifferent. He's the head of one of the biggest "don't give a shit about anything" administrations in history.

9. Of course, why wouldn't he be ?
Poll numbers didn't matter one hoot during the elections. Even if his poll # fell to 25% and the elections were held today, he would still win by a good 3 - 4 million votes. Poll #s don't mean Jack S*.

Those who vote Republican, do so regardless of what they think of their candidate.

13. Gas Prices Are An Opening
I believe that pointing out the fact that gas prices have doubled since his junta seized power is a good way to kick this dog while he's down.

The prices can't be blamed on the Dems, they have no power. It can't be blamed on taxes, they haven't risen. The GOP held Carter responsible in the 1980 election. The GOP should be blamed in 2006.

17. He only cares about himself in the present
He is president for the next almost 4 years. That's all that is important too him. He'll do what he wants in the meantime with no regard to anyone else or even his future after the presidency.

19. He does not care because he does not have to run again
His indifference comes from not caring about what he does to the rest of the Republican party. I think it just shows how selfish, self centered, cold hearted he is. As long as he won, he does not care about the rest of the team. What is left in the political arena for him, Mayor of Crawford? Why should he care? He can't go out in public so it is not like he will stump for any candidates in the future. He is hated through out the world, so he will not be doing any good will work like Clinton or Carter are doing in other nations. He will be like his father and visit the CIA and then head off to Saudi Arabia. He will work for the Military/Industrial complex just like his father.

22. The question was asked on purpose so Bush could say he was unconcerned
and the corporate media lapdogs could print headlines saying Bush was not bothered.
