Ventura ‘tells it like it is’: Former governor slams media, hypocrisy
Friday, April 8, 2005

In his first public appearance at a Minnesota college since leaving office, former Minnesota State Governor Jesse Ventura spoke in Boe Chapel Monday to a capacity crowd explaining why he is the "most dangerous man in America."

Ventura gave himself this moniker because he "defeated both the Democrats and the Republicans not once, but twice" in elections.

Ventura gave an exclusive interview with the Manitou Messenger, noting that he has not spoken with any other Minnesota press since leaving office in 2002. In the interview, Ventura explained that his beginnings in politics grew out of dissatisfaction with local government in Brooklyn Park, Minn. He felt that the people were being ignored by those in power.

When he decided to run for mayor, politicians in office told him that there was no way he could win. "No one tells me 'can't'," he said.

Ventura mentioned that the move from professional wrestling to politics helped him become more comfortable in front of the camera, speak extemporaneously and promote his image.

The most important national issue for young people in America, according to Ventura, should be the war in Iraq because, "it's going to kill them." <snip>

3. Ya know, Jesse could grow on a person.
I think he makes a helluva lot better ex-guv than he did a guv, but there always have been surprising flashes of rationality out of that guy.

He gave away any rainy day funding for Minnesotoans when he was governer, was silent when Bush geared up for war, and never did denounce it, only bitched about dependence on the Guard.

Now, we have 1,500 dead, Minnesota is in a world of hurt fiscally and social programs are being pared to the bone, our roads are falling apart and Jesse tests the winds to see if it is safe outside for more of his "radicalism"?

Jeebus Jesse, lead, follow, or get the fuck out of the way - you're an ex-military man*, you should know what that means.

*but he may not be, as he often alluded to, a Navy Seal or a conbat vet.

8. Jesse "Fuck Wellstone once he's dead" Ventura
He helped spread the GOP "funerally myth" by giving speeches for their side. It was widely known that he disliked wellstone and it's obvious he wanted norm coleman to win over mondale.

jesse is a libertarian - which is basically a rightwinger who wants to smoke pot

9. heh heh
right winger who likes to smoke pot. I don't think 'ol Jesse actually has any political leanings, he is more like...like...like a wrestler with a microphone. Yes, Jesse is your basic insecure shithead. I say fuck him, thanks to Jesse, the door was opened (shame on you Tim Penny) for the diabolical whimp Timmy Pawlenty.
