Senior Democrats complain Bush administration refused requests for ...
... Bolton information

By BARRY SCHWEID
AP Diplomatic Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Democrats complained Wednesday that the Bush administration has refused their requests for more information about John R. Bolton, the president’s nominee for U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. <snip>

In a letter signed Wednesday and described to The Associated Press, all the Democrats on the committee asked Chairman Richard Lugar, R-Ind., to wait to reschedule the hearing until they receive background material they say they need before Bolton comes before the committee. Democrats said the administration also spurned their requests for some witnesses to appear before the committee. <snip>

2. I don't mean to be cynical but can't their aides "Google?"
Most everything we know is available with a click to Google. They have huge staffs and their staffs can't do what we do? :eyes:

I understand the protest is legit and about protocol and all...but sheesh...it seems a lame excuse sometimes...

3. Probably not -- I'm pretty sure that congressmen (and their staff)
Are the most insulated people on the planet.

5. I assume that they want documents that are classified and not on the web
At least some of the Senators have had run ins with this man for years. I would be willing to bet that each has a very competent staff and that they and their staff are not mystified by google - whic is not complicated in the least.

4. I would be willing to be the Administration has information not available
on google. That is actually beside the point anyway. The point is the administration is refusing to give information asked for by the senate. It really does not matter where else that information may be found. The administration was asked to comply and it refused.

6. I think there are levels
of play here. I think they are pushing the bushcruds to refuse. And, it is the responsibility of the administration to support their nominee. The fact that the bushpiss is obdurate makes a statement of sorts.
