UAW rejects Eastman Machine's 'final proposal' (Buffalo)
Thomas Hartley
Business First

Striking members of United Auto Workers Local 936 this morning turned down what the Eastman Machine Co. termed the "final proposal" for a new three-year collective bargaining agreement.

The offer, if approved, would have ended a 26-day walkout at the Buffalo company.

UAW Area Director Kevin Donovan said 82 percent of the 58 voting members rejected the offer that was reached Tuesday at a 10-hour negotiating session.

"We are continuing the strike," said Donovan. He added that the union is willing to sit down again with management but, "at this point, we don't know what happens next."
