Another sex allegation emerges in South Australia

There have been more allegations today about paedophilia in South Australia's political hierarchy. A former street kid says that in the mid-1980s, a former MP paid him for sex.

Brad, who has asked not to have his last name revealed, says he didn't know who the man was at the time.

But when he saw the politician on television years after the event, certain mannerisms triggered his memory.

The child protection expert Professor Freda Briggs says the time has come for the Government to set up an independent inquiry, and that someone from interstate should chair it, to ensure the truth comes to light.

POLICE today raided the homes of two people who named a serving South Australian politician on a list of alleged pedophiles, one of the pair said.

Barry Standfield and Wendy Utting were volunteers in the office of former parliamentary speaker Peter Lewis, who quit the position on Monday in the wake of the pedophile MP allegations.

Mr Standfield and Ms Utting last week named four people – a present MP, a former politician and two senior police officers – as alleged pedophiles.

"I had a call from anti-corruption police, they're sitting up at my property at the moment, waiting for me to come back and let them in," Ms Utting told ABC radio. "They have a search warrant to go through the property and seek any documents regarding the member of parliament that's been accused."
