DeLay's woes make Democrats think of '06

But whether his ethics issues will have that much impact on voters is yet to be seen

WASHINGTON - As renewed ethics questions about Tom DeLay make the front pages of major newspapers, some involving trips he took eight years ago, Democratic activists see a potent issue for the 2006 congressional elections.

They are trying to make DeLay the poster boy for what they portray as a corrupt and arrogant Republican-led Congress.

Noble said many members of Congress pay family members as consultants or staff members, but that excessive fees raise a red flag.

3. What do you think his stain factor is?

On a scale from 1 to 10, how much of his shenanigans can be associated with the Republican's standard method of operation? Or for that matter, how much will the public believe it's business as usual for Repubs?

2. There is no doubt
that if the Democrats don't attack now, they will be missing a window of opportunity.

But, we also need to do more than just attack. We need to present an alternative to their issues and be passionate about it.

4. Hit the nail on the head there
Politics, right now, is set up for the Dems to win or lose, IMO. The GOP is in tatters and its own base knows it. Many 'pugs that I know are totally disenfranchised by the party that they only vote GOP out of habit now.

Democrats have to start framing the issues. To do that, they must stop listening to what the GOP says on any subject and turn each and every GOP talking point on its head.

Its really not that hard to do, but like always, the old line Dems wanna purge the party of its youth, vigor and identity. With half the party trying to ham-string the other half, the Dems will continue to be a laughing stock to Joe Voter. So, politics today, is there for the Dems to lose.

5. I've been thinking of '06 for over thirty years.
I was in this whorehouse in Alabama and overheard this coked up guy bragging about how someday his daddy's friends were going to make him President. Said something about his daddy killed JFK and framed Nixon. How his dad was going to set up the President at the end of the seventies and install a drooling old man who would be an icon to his party. How his dad would be President first, then Neil? then himself, then his brother...Jeb I think he said.

This stoned dude then picked up the most underage black prostitute available and disappeared into a room. The last thing I heard him say was, "And Saudi Arabia and our friends the Bin Ladens will help keep us in office perpetually."

Just at that moment a choir of angels appeared in front of me. They told me that this drugged up drunk would get his comeuppance in 2006. Told me an earthbound assembly of Angels would convince the people to turn away from the 'Bugman' and his fellow devils". These earthbound Angels would be selected by the people to slay...wait, I think the word was "impeach" the dry-drunk President after the Bugman falls.

I've been waiting for the fall of the Bugman ever since. I never went to a whorehouse again.

7. Start giving Richard Morrison money again!
After the election, he acted like he was going to rev his machine up again right away for an 06 run.

This time, he could very well cinch the deal!

8. I couldn't step out of my front door without tripping over Morrison...
...before the election, but am rather disappointed that I haven't heard a peep from him since. Maybe I'm just missing it.:kick:
