Zinc Helps Teens Think
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=571&ncid=751&e=1&u=/nm/20050405/hl_nm/zinc_teens_dc

Zinc-fortified foods may help seventh graders perform better in school, according to study findings presented at the Experimental Biology 2005 meeting in San Diego.

In a 10-week study of 209 seventh graders, those who consumed fruit juice supplemented with zinc cut their reaction time on a visual memory test by 12 percent compared with 6 percent for students who received regular juice.

They also had more correct answers on a word recognition test and had better scores on a task requiring sustained attention and vigilance.

However, test performance did not improve significantly in students who were already meeting recommended daily allowances for zinc intake.

This is a very interesting study.

Hypozincasiasis? Maybe it's a side-effect of ending the alphabet with "W"?

2. Brought to you by the Zinc Council...
...Who used to say that taking lots of Zinc would put LOTS of lead in your "pencil".

When I was a kid, there was a story going around that the Army was pushing zinc pills on the boots so that if they were taken by the VC, Charlie would be un-nerved by the tremendous size of the American Trouser Snake...

Zinc is an important trace mineral, no denying, and today's over-processed "Thickburger" 100% USDA-Approved Pure SHIT diet isn't helping, either. I'm just saying Minerals get pushed as cure-alls a lot...

3. And what was the affect on the libidos of the teens who took it?
Not sure that the 6% improvement in memory would justify more raging hormones in that particular group.
