Ignore Muslim anger at your peril, Musharraf warns Bush
The Muslim world is so full of hatred for the United States that President George W. Bush must do something positive in the region, such as capturing fugitive terrorist Osama bin Laden or restoring order to Afghanistan, warns Pakistan's president.

"There's so much hate, so much anti-western, anti-U.S. feelings, we have to show a positive," Gen. Pervez Musharraf told the Citizen in an interview.

"If we show one more negative, in the form of a military operation against another Muslim country, I think it's going to be disastrous."

Gen. Musharraf is Mr. Bush's No. 1 Muslim ally in the war on terror, and the on-going effort to capture Mr. bin Laden, the man held responsible for the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C.

2. He is wrong-- mostly the anger is directed correctly
at Bush and by extension the troops he has placed in Iraq.

3. NO, HE IS RIGHT -- MOSTLY THE ANGER IS DIRECTED CORRECTLY
at the nation of the United States and by extension its people, who have allowed its behavior to continue and who benefit from its bloated excesses at the death, pain, and expense of others.

Nor is that anger limited to Muslim nations. I communicate daily in a system with has included open participation from people of 36 of the worlds nations including the United States. It is very clear that those from other nations are much better informed both about the state of the world and the position of the United States within it than those of the latter.

Except for many in the US, and some in the UK, most do not differentiate between US liberals and conservatives, democrats and republicans, Americans and their government, its corporations and its people, its military and its civilians. They are, correctly in my opinion, seen as one. There is common expression of belief that the people of the US act as the new good Germans of the 1930's Hitler, those unwilling give up the comforts and benefits derived from rape of the world and do what it would take to change their nation. They don't give a damn who you are for in 2004, for they know it will make no difference.

With them, I believe the anger is directed where it belongs.

4. Yes, he's right. But, I would have to parse with the...
responsibility thing. Surely, Muslims have to know, that the Bush cabal stole the election, despite the fact they lost the vote? Certainly, they can't blame all of us here, when so many are fighting to get rid of Bush, and to institute reforms to prevent our continuing slide into fascism?

But then, maybe not. If I were Muslim, and in the ME, I would be wondering why fat, lazy Americans haven't gotten off their ass and decended on D.C. to demand the cabal's removal. I mean, if things were that damned important to us, we would seek to stop them now, before anymore damage could be caused. But, we live in a democracy, and I know this is a hard concept for many ME Muslims to grasp. We're not all armed with AK-47's here, and we try to do things through the ballot box. Still, I can see their point....
