Terri Schiavo autopsy completed
Her parents, husband planning separate funeral arrangements
----------------------------------
TAMPA, Florida (AP) -- The autopsy of Terri Schiavo has been completed, and the body is ready for release to her husband, who plans to cremate her remains and bury the ashes in an unspecified family plot.

Results from the autopsy, which was completed Friday, will not be released for several weeks, according to the medical examiner's office.

Michael Schiavo has said he hopes the autopsy will settle questions about his wife's medical condition, but experts differ on whether that will happen. He declined to comment Friday.

2. It all depends on the media
If they choose to publicize a cirrus like environment, there will be at least on (maybe more) circus like memorial services. Unfortunately, they will probably have a field day. And I suppose we will respond in kind - it is hard to avoid it.

However, now that she has died a lot of the public's emotional energy may be spent.

3. Why is he delaying?
Maybe waiting for the craziness to die down?

And did anyone see the story about how the Schindler family will be selling the names of their donors to anybody who wants them? SELLING that is...

6. Do we know how long it takes a NORMAL autoposy report
to be released? I know from writing my own reports (different profession) that it takes a few days at least to sift thru all my notes, esp if I'm using a recorder initially...then writing, proofing, etc...before I actually punch print. And I assume he'll want all his ducks in a row on this report. But honestly, I don't know what's industry standard for a coroner. A week doesn't seem unreasonable to me, even more in a really complex or important case.

8. It takes WEEKS
They remove the brain, and then they have to wait for awhile before they can slice it and look at it. Then there's toxicology reports, the notes have to be transcribed, and so on.

9. Thanks, it's important to know what realistic
expectations we should have on a turn around for something like this.

7. We didn't know the results of our sister's autopsy for about 6 weeks
There was something about the procedure when doing an autopsy of the brain. They just don't open her up - look at the brain - oh here is the problem.
