HARTFORD, Conn. -- <snip>
Jerome Brown, president of New England Health Care Employees Union, District 1199, said that the union planned to meet next Wednesday to consider delaying strike dates, but would not put off strikes indefinitely.
"Without a deadline, we will be here on Christmas," Brown said.
The union had set tentative strike dates of April 13 and April 18 at some facilities. In 2001, a contentious strike had workers at 39 homes on the picket lines for a month.
Home owners have said it is difficult to come up with a labor agreement when they don't know how much in Medicaid reimbursement funds to expect from the state. <snip>
