Schiavo Autopsy To Be Performed Within 24 Hours
-snip-

An autopsy will be performed on the body of Terry Schiavo within 24 hours, said William Pellan, the director of investigations for Pinellas-Pasco County Medical Examiner's Office, but it may be several weeks before a report of the findings is made public.

PERHAPS

If there is any justice at all, this will put the BULLSHIT lies to rest. If the autopsy comes out as predicted by the physicians, will the media apologize?

Stupid question, I know. :banghead:

2. It took months for our results.
Maybe quicker for this case but they have to "hang" the brain in formula for a certain amount of time before studies can be done.

11. I heard phys autopsy in 24 hours, brain autopsy results not for 2+ months
at the minimum.

The pathologist on the screen said the same thing as you--the brain has to be preserved in a certain way and allowed to "harden" before they can do actual examination of it properly.

6. I can guarantee.....
that Rove has already ordered that the examiner's background be quietly looked into in case the autopsy results are not what they hope for.

7. I think they will have to tread carefully about that...
I believe that since they have districts to cover several counties the appointments would be made by someone connected with the Governor. In this case, JEB.

8. Research found this
June 29 2000 St Petersburg Times
LARGO -- A defiant Pinellas-Pasco Medical Examiner Joan Wood vowed never to voluntarily step down from her beloved life's work. But on Wednesday, she decided enough was enough.

Wood unexpectedly announced her retirement, effective Sept. 30, after nearly 20 years as the circuit's medical examiner. The announcement comes just two days before Gov. Jeb Bush was to decide whether to reappoint her to another term.

End of this excerpt

Florida State Statute 406 establishes a statewide Medical Examiner system of death investigation. The state is divided into 24 Districts with a medical examiner assigned to each one. The county of Volusia is designated District 7. With the exception of “Home Rule” counties, The Medical Examiner’s Commission submits candidates to the Governor for appointment as District Medical Examiners. As delineated in the Florida Statutes, the Office of the Medical Examiner is responsible for the determination of the cause, manner, and mechanism of death under certain circumstances. If you are interested in learning more about the duties and responsibilities of the medical examiner’s office,

9. Medical examiner: Autopsy decision not Michael Schiavo's to make
TampaBayLive

"We are not doing the autopsy because of a request coming from Michael Schiavo. We are investigating the cause of death as mandated by Florida law and for no other reason. Family requests are immaterial in that determination. Our involvement is independent from the wishes of the next of kin," stated Bill Pellan, director of investigations for the Pinellas/Pasco Medical Examiner's Office.

/snip/

By Florida law, there are 12 criteria in order for the M.E.'s office to get involved. Out of the 12, potentially four apply to Terri's case: planned cremation, allegations of criminal violence, suspicious or unusual circumstance, and accidental injury.

Pellan told Action News that the M.E.'s office was not just getting involved because there was a request to cremate Terri's body. He confirmed there are other factors, but would not specify what they were; he would only say that Michael Schiavo did not object to the autopsy, and even said it may help.

10. An MD on MSNBC said they can't dissect brain for about 2 weeks
They have to wait for it to harden somewhat before dissecting it. So do they cremate the rest of the body without the brain in the meantime?
