Bush aide says ouster made 'out of concern' (due to bumpersticker)

GOP staffer feared 3 might disrupt event

By Ann Imse, Rocky Mountain News
March 31, 2005

The White House on Wednesday said three people were bounced from last week's presidential speech in Denver "out of concern they might try to disrupt the event."

The explanation from White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan was quoted by The Washington Post on Wednesday.

>snip

But a Secret Service investigation found the man was a Republican Party staffer who was working President Bush's town hall meeting on Social Security at the Wings over the Rockies museum.

The three who were ousted and their attorney met with the Secret Service chief in Denver on Monday and quoted him as saying the man admitted removing them solely due to the "No more blood for oil" bumper sticker on Weise's car.

19. Don't you mean 'weenies' and thugs
Why use a denigrating term for women when describing this little man?

2. i wonder what would have happened if they had refused to leave?
would this staffer then notify SS?
would SS act on it?

it seems they have staffers acting like SS.

i wonder if he told them he was SS?

this is rediculous.

"for the people by the republicans"

10. They had just gotten in the door..............
not even to their seats, when this jackass literally pushed them back outside the door. It's kind of hard to refuse to leave when you're already outside. They never had a chance to object.

Edited on Thu Mar-31-05 09:22 AM by SheepyMcSheepster
that they were seated and then were removed right before bush came out.

i could be wrong.

edit: yeah, it confirms this in the OP's linked article:

The three were were allowed in, but then hustled out 20 to 30 minutes later by a man who they were told was a Secret Service agent. They said he wore a navy blue suit, earpiece and red lapel pin, and threatened them with arrest if they misbehaved.

for our soldiers and Iraqis dying for cheap oil and ME domination. So that makes it even :eyes:

Plus the people who authorized that "staffer?"

5. Wow! You mean they're finally admitting something?
It ain't much, and the incident is only a snapshot of a much larger problem, namely the propeganda machine and strict censorship that silences dissent and protects the administration from any criticism. But that serious problem will be lost on a majority of kool-aid drinkers; still, I a bit surprised they didn't just spin this one away and sweep it under the rug.

6. What's a little prior restraint in an Empire based on preemptive war?
I'd love to see traction on this, but at minimum it goes into the Acts of Tyranny file. There is going to be a lot to account for when the regime collapses.

15. They're afraid someone might disrupt his pep rally.
Unfortunately we're stuck with this guy as our president whether we like it or not. But, We have a right to voice our opinions and be heard whether he likes it or not. And he has an obligation to listen to us whether he likes it or not. This man is the most cowardly SOB to ever walk the floor of the oval office.

the Jay Marvin show yesterday morning on AAR.
He said that they're trying to get the staffer's
name from the SS and a lawsuit most likely will
be filed against the Repub party. If the SS doesn't
give the name of the staffer, it will come out
during the discovery process once the court
proceedings begin .

18. EVERY city this dog & pony show goes to should DEMAND upfront $$
to defray cost of police work for security and traffic control for what is obviously a GOP event and not an official presidential visit.

No $$ upfront, keep the cops off the street. Cities cannot support their schools, why should they support what is clearly partisan events?
