Saudi princess charged with forcing women to be domestic servants (Mass.)
http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2005/03/30/saudi_princess_charged_with_forcing_women_to_be_domestic_servants/

A Saudi princess was arrested Wednesday on charges she forced two women to be her domestic servants and threatened to harm them if they tried to leave, according to federal prosecutors.

Hana Al Jader, a Saudi national, is married to Prince Mohamed Bin Turki Alsaud, according to a source close to the case, speaking on condition of anonymity. It wasn't immediately clear what relationship, if any, the couple has to the Saudi royal family.

Al Jader, 39, is accused of confiscating the passports of two Indonesian women who worked as domestic servants at the family's homes in Arlington and Winchester between February 2003 and November 2004.

The princess led the women to believe that they would suffer "serious harm" if they didn't perform the work, according to a copy of an indictment charging her with forced labor, visa fraud and other charges.

1. That's business as usual in Saudi Arabia
I guess it simply didn't occur to them that treating people like that was still illegal in the US.

Give Idiot's team a little more time, though, and they'll be able to do it with impunity.

5. they do it all the time
most Arab Moslem females are treated this way. MOST of them! It's a fearful abomination by our standards but at the same time we ignore it. The American left, for the most part, ignores the deep subjugation that still traps Arab women. It's the third-rail of Mideast politics. The systematic denigration of females profoundly informs my opinion of some key enemies of Israel. The Jews treat a girl right.

6. Please...
You're right about the plight of women in middle-eastern countries for the most part. However, look at Turkey, virtually completely Islamic and yet they maintain secular government we here would be happy to have.

The Arab world was far ahead of Europe in terms of women's rights for a very long time. This is a relatively recent development, which means that it can and will be reversed.

Lastly, it is foolish to support Israel and its policies (full of disgusting activities) because "The Jews treat a girl right".

10. MOST?
You do realize that millions of Muslim females go about their business without all the nonsense of having to wear a hijab (tent), aren't beaten, get college degrees and have good jobs, right?

The Sauds have to appease all those crazy extremists to stay in power. Mecca is the seat of Islam, and the Sauds would be behaeded in about 10 minutes if those nuts thought they weren't kowtowing to their crap.

13. Nope. Wrong issue.
An Arab Muslim female is the villainess in this piece--not some poor oppressed soul. And the victims aren't Arabs--they're from Indonesia. The issue is slavery.

Women's position in Islam varies from country to country--& even within countries.

What the HELL does Israel have to do with this?

And nice of you, lambasting "the Left." Quite enlightening, that.

8. OH. MY. GOD.
It wasn't immediately clear what realtionship, IF ANY, the couple has to the Saudi royal family??!!!!????

Can't these people read?

Muhammed Bin Turki AL SAUD, as in SAUD-i Arabia. DUH and double DUH.

No wonder there's such a friggin gap between us...

It's pretty much standard procedure. A lot of Filipinos get stuck in The Magic Kingdom, because they just don't get paid. It goes on all over the world, actually, so the Saudis can't be singled out for a lashing over this.

14. I believe the family is humongous -
which is what happens when a guy can have multiple wives, I suppose. So they probably meant they don't know how close the relationship is. They could be very distantly related to a 6th brother, etc.
