Allawi tells clerics to stay out of politics
Baghdad - Iraq's interim Prime Minister Iyad Allawi said on Saturday Shi'a Muslim religious leaders should stay out of politics, an unprecedented public criticism of the powerful clergy.

"Thrusting the religious establishment into daily political affairs could distance it from its guiding role and disrupt relations between the political forces, which could create an imbalance," his National Accord Party said in a letter sent to Shi'a and Kurdish politicians.

"Everyone must agree on the role of the religious leadership in the interim period," it said. State-owned al-Sabah newspaper published the letter.

Public criticism of Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, Iraq's most influential Shi'a cleric, is almost unheard of in the country. It could deepen a political crisis sparked by the failure so far to form a government after the January 30 elections.

12. Allawi has refused to join a new government despite Shia and Kurdish effor
Both the Shia and Kurdish blocs have been trying to persuade Allawi to join a new government, but he has refused, saying new guidelines are needed on how to treat Baath party members and militias that have sprung up in postwar Iraq. </end snip>

american media tends to only focus on the kurds and shia dificulties.

maybe Awalli will just take out the oppostion with a hot lead injection?

Iyad Allawi, the new Prime Minister of Iraq, pulled a pistol and executed as many as six al Sistani Shiites suspected of killing Sunni Baathist zioni$t communi$t$ at a Baghdad police station, just days before Washington handed control of the country to his interim government, according to two people who allege they witnessed the killings. Wolfowiz and Rover jumped for joy and cried "Allawi passed the test, he's our bea$t," the antichrist beast has the next Saddam Hussein Shiite exterminating beast, and he is named Lyad "the beast," Allawi, the new PM of Iraq.

4. Hmmm, this could get interesting...
Allawi, the shill of the bushites and the one turfed by the Iraqi people, telling the most powerful men in Iraq to STFU and stay out of politics. Wise? To quote Jon Stewart "not so much".

7. Send a copy of that note to the Bushs, and the Republican leadership
"Thrusting the religious establishment into daily political affairs could distance it from its guiding role and disrupt relations between the political forces, which could create an imbalance"

Send a copy to the religious fanatics too.

8. Sour grapes
Allawi and his party has been completely left out of the decision making process during the formation of the new government.

His life won't be worth a plugged nickel if he stays in Iraq.

Look for him to extend his exile in London in the near future.

9. Not quite
Kurdish sources confirmed that a week ago Ayatollah Hussein Al-Sadr, a leading Shia clergy and a member of The Iraqi List, hosted a meeting at his Baghdad house between the leader of the grouping Ayad Allawi and Chalabi.

Many press reports suggested that Chalabi was now considering linking up with Allawi and the Kurds to propose their own candidate for premier. This move coincides with reports leaked by the Kurds to the media indicating that they too are not happy with the UIA's choice of candidate.

Allawi, Chalabi, and the Kurds may screw over the UIA.

11. These guys are so desperate they'll hook up with ANYONE. Chalabi
and his beloved cousin are so desperate. And I suspect the Iraqi-on-the-Street probably holds a grudge against the guy who didn't mind telling lies and getting 100,000 of them bombed and blasted to bits. And as for Allawi, Mr. shoot-em-in-the-head himself, I doubt he's gonna win a popularity contest.

What interests me is al Sadr. What's his game? Bitter and angry because he doesn't command the respect and attention he thinks he deserves. He's certainly shown himself pretty willing to be anybody's whore. Is he miffed at al Sistani now? Hmmmmm. Interesting.
