UK Lawmakers Accuse U.S. of Grave Rights Violations
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20050325/wl_nm/rights_britain_usa_dc&e=1

"LONDON (Reuters) - The United States has committed "grave violations of human rights" against prisoners in Guantanamo Bay, Afghanistan (news - web sites) and Iraq (news - web sites), the Foreign Affairs Committee of Britain's parliament said in a report on Friday.

"We conclude that United States personnel appear to have committed grave violations of human rights of persons held in detention in various facilities in Iraq, Guantanamo Bay and Afghanistan," the committee wrote in its influential annual report on human rights.

"We recommend that the government make it clear to the United States administration, both in public and private, that such treatment of detainees is unacceptable."

The committee said it was "surprising and unsettling" that the government had twice failed to answer whether London receives information extracted under torture by a third country. "

8. Anger over policy on torture info (UK)
Edited on Fri Mar-25-05 11:06 PM by struggle4progress
THE Government was today under fire over its refusal to say whether it uses information extracted under torture by foreign countries.

An influential Commons committee criticised the Government for twice refusing to answer the question, and said ministers must now come clean. <snip>

The committee said: "We find it surprising and unsettling that the Government has twice failed to answer our specific question on whether or not the UK receives or acts upon information extracted under torture by a third country."

A spokesman for Amnesty International said: "It is difficult to avoid concluding that the Government is chillingly indifferent over the question of using blood-stained information." <snip>

14. May be , May be not- American Service Members Protection Act
The Bushies definitely believe in the age old adage "Cover Thy Own Ass".
This doesn't just cover service members, but also elected officials.
