Schwarzenegger Asks London Court to Block Libel Suit
March 22 (Bloomberg) -- Lawyers for California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger asked a U.K. court to block a libel suit brought by a British television host who has accused the actor- turned-politician of groping her during an interview.

Host Anna Richardson claims she was libeled by Schwarzenegger, 57, and two of his former campaign workers, Sean Walsh and Sheryl Main, in an October 2003 article printed in the Los Angeles Times newspaper. She says that Schwarzenegger's staff implied in the piece that she ``deliberately and dishonestly fabricated'' allegations that the politician touched her breast during an interview at the Dorchester Hotel in London in 2000.

An August ruling subjecting Schwarzenegger to U.K. jurisdiction on the claims should be ``set aside,'' Schwarzenegger's lawyer, Richard Spearman QC, said today at the High Court in London.

Schwarzenegger has not yet filed a defense to Richardson's complaint, according to the court. A British judge in January denied a similar request from Walsh, a consultant on the politician's 2003 gubernatorial campaign, to overturn the jurisdiction ruling. Main, a former publicist for Schwarzenegger's films, is now employed by the state of California as a member of the governor's communications team.

2. Well, ain't that just like a puke, trying to get out of "justice"
when it comes to their own personal behavior. Hold his feet to the fire!! Maybe then CA can reclaim its place as a liberal stronghold.

14. Democrats didn't work together.
1. The Democrats didn't stand behind Gray Davis, even though he was
getting an obvious "put up" job, what with Enron energy manipulation
and the like.

2. The Democrats didn't stand with each other, allowingth elefty vote
to be fragmented while the Republicans elected the Gropenfuehrer.

3. The Democrats didn't immediately start actions to recall Ahnold.

And as with Jess Ventura, young, stupid, white males thought it would
be really, really cool to have Ahnold as the Governator. So they
voted for him.

15. Exactly..Davis was recalled for fiscal malfeasance
The percentage of debt to GDP in California at that time was less than the percentage of debt to GDP on the Federal level but Bush* was doing a fine job....Democrats never mentioned that even once..Since then the percentage of federal debt to GDP has grown even more but is there even a mention of fiscal malfeasance? Hypocrites, on virtually every issue. Democrats are the brain dead party. There are literally hundreds of issues to contrast how the Republicans actually operate compared to their words but do we hear even a peep? They should be clamoring to be on every single Sunday talk show but only Republicans ever show up. Gingrich used C-Span to lambaste the Democrats for years. He never gave up with his wild accusations and hyperbole. Democrats can't be bothered..It appears that we have made a conscious decision to put the Democratic Party into mothballs..

17. You forgot to mention the impact of the MSM
(1) Oprah had him on at least once
(2) He announced on Jay Leno's show as I recall and I think Leno had him on several times
(3) Radio pushed him
(4) The "rags" were bought up by his friends. I recall seeing only one story about Arnold while I was standing in a check-out line at the supermarket. The story was something about an alien from outer space voting for Arnold.

7. I hope this is the one that is on camera.
there is one grope he did where it's on film. If the trial goes forward and it's admissable then all the cable networks will run the pic in between Michael Jackson updates.

8. I don't think the Brits will humor the Groper
British judges are pretty sticky about that whole British legal tradition thing. But, I suppose a certain Poodle might help out, so you never know.

13. Schwarzenegger Fails to Stop British Woman's Libel Claim
Schwarzenegger had challenged a ruling by a senior High Court official, Master Leslie, giving Anna Richardson permission to serve proceedings on him out of the jurisdiction.

Today’s decision, by Mr Justice Eady, is a major step towards a libel trial in London sometime this year.
...
Refusing to set aside the Master’s order, the judge said that 57-year-old Schwarzenegger was “not peripheral” to the case.

“He and the claimant are the persons best able to testify to what happened in the Dorchester Hotel in December 2000.”
