Allies reconsider China weapons sales

Allies reconsider China weapons sales
By Barry Schweid, Associated Press Writer | March 22, 2005

WASHINGTON -- European countries are rethinking their planned weapons sales to China in response to stiff opposition from the United States and China's toughened stance on Taiwan.

A European diplomat said Monday that at a minimum such weapons as night-vision goggles and submarine technology would not be sold.Europeans have discussed a "code of conduct" designed to keep dangerous weapons out of China's hands.

The Bush administration maintains that the weapons could be turned against Taiwan as China attempts to assert its sovereignty over the island.

There also is strong opposition in Congress to arms sales to China.

1. Here we see another great big fight waiting to erupt. Like China is
not going to be allowed to own Taiwan.. that would mean USA would have to give up Canada. They are just killing time and trying to keep China busy on this issue for as long as possible.

People of Taiwan.. move (I think Bush should call them refugees if he is to go to these length to try and protect them).

2. China will get weapons on the black market. If they WANT weapons, they
cannot and will not be stopped.

3. I see the USA as THE threat to the world
.
.
.

so if China or Russia want to be a realistic deterrent to the USA's penchant for conquering

I say let 'em arm to the teeth.

Sadly to say, I'm at the point where I'll take my chances on anyone BUT the USA right now.

And I'm not talking about places like Korea, they are NO threat to the west - IF we leave them alone. Asia can take care of Korea if it became aggressive, and I don't think they(Korea) have any intention of invading anyone. Even IF Korea could manufacture nuclear weapons at some outrageous pace, they would never catch up to China or Russia - I'm comfortable enough knowing that.

I hope the EU doesn't back down to the US demands - cuz if'n the US manages to overwhelm the ME - Europe and Asia are NEXT.

Count on it . .

(sigh)
