Reid, six colleagues to spend 10 days in Middle East region
WASHINGTON -- Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., departed Friday for a 10-day trip to the Middle East where he planned to get a first-hand look at American involvement in the region.

LVRJ-Senator Harry Reid

"This is a critical time for the peace process in the Middle East, and for democratic change in several other nations. Many of the developments hang tenuously in the balance," Reid said in a statement.

"It's only appropriate for the Senate to be fully engaged at this time and express the full commitment and support of the United States," he said.

Reid's office said he would travel with six other senators to the Middle East and "several emerging democracies." A Reid spokesman declined to say whether the delegation would venture into Iraq.

Other senators on the trip include: Richard Durbin, D-Ill., Robert Bennett, R-Utah, Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., Patty Murray, D-Wash., Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., and Ken Salazar, D-Colo.

"The primary focus of the trip will be on security issues, and exploring ways the United States can support several developing democracies around the world," according to Reid's office.

Reid, who voted in 2002 to authorize the war in Iraq, has since been critical of the Bush administration's handling of military operations and reconstruction efforts.

1. What a joke.
Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., departed Friday for a 10-day trip to the Middle East where he planned to get a first-hand look at American involvement in the region.

Yeah I bet he will. Does that mean he's going to spend the week in the pile of rubble that used to be his home? Will he try to find food while American soldiers and insurgents shoot at him? Will he perhaps take a gentle stroll through one of the lovely hospitals over there and maybe try to help families identify the pieces of their loved ones?

I highly doubt it.

3. What A Fucked Up Comment & Attitude. I Am Sure Reid Is As Capable
of empathy as YOU are... and is actually in a position to try and change things.

But maybe that's why SOME DU'ers do their best to shit over anything Democrats do. Don't want any postive energy going towards Democrats now do you.

I'm not a dem. And why am I not a dem? Because of pieces of garbage like Reid and Leiberman and rest of the appeasers that try to pass themselves off as democrats. Show me a real Democrat, one who hasn't bent over for this administration and I'll gladly humble myself. If you can't, then maybe...just maybe, it's you that needs to question where you stand. We are all judged by our actions and the company we keep.

8. Personally-- it's not a Dem Repub thing anymore w/ the ME
it's a matter of politicians who need to get their collective heads out of their collective asses and stand up for what is right.

Unless Reid and Co can do that then screw 'em and bring in others who can.

If they come back and start mouthing the regime's words we'll know where we stand.

10. Does that mean 10 days of brainwashing by Israeli officials?
I'm assuming AIPAC has made all "the necessary travel arrangements".
