Husband's lawyer denounces congressional 'thuggery'

PINELLAS PARK, Florida (CNN) -- The feeding tube for the brain-damaged Florida woman at the center of a bitter moral and legal tug of war was disconnected Friday afternoon, and her husband's lawyer pleaded, "She has a right to die in peace."

The dramatic moment seemed to cap an emotional day in which Terri Schiavo's husband, parents, the courts and members of Congress waded into the battle over the woman's fate.

But late Friday, lawyers for the House of Representatives filed an appeal with the U.S. Supreme Court, asking the justices to intervene in the case.

Justice Anthony Kennedy has jurisdiction over emergency appeals in cases arising in the 11th U.S. Circuit, where Schiavo's case is being played out.

4. They will make it their right just as they will make it their right to
have control over all of our bodies, especially the walking wombs among us.

5. Not only that, but Scalia's ruling on an earlier case
I believe her name was Nancy Cruzan, is priceless in the light of the current GOP grandstanding.

I almost hope he does rule, so we can rub his long blue nose in it.

(He ruled against prolonging Cruzan's death with a feeding tube)

9. From what I understand they aren't trying to go to SCOTUS
They are supposed to rocket legislation through that will make it illegal to discontinue the feedings, thus bypassing the court systems by making their own new laws that the courts will be forced to uphold. It was even said they would work through the holiday to do it so that it will affect T.S.
Where is the outrage? Where is the morality?
Will DNR's become useless?
Will our choices today become our governments choices tomorrow?
This case is taking us to a very ugly place in personal choice, and there isn't enough outrage about it to make me comfortable.
