Car Bomb Explodes at Iraqi Army Checkpoint

BAQUBA, Iraq (Reuters) - A car bomb exploded at an Iraqi army checkpoint in the town of Baquba northeast of Baghdad on Wednesday and heavy casualties were feared among soldiers, police and witnesses said.

They said wounded soldiers were taken to a U.S. base for treatment.

Insurgents trying to overthrow Iraq's U.S.-based government are increasingly targeting checkpoints, often with suicide bombs.

U.S. and Iraqi officers say this shows progress in the battle against the insurgency, as guerrillas are finding it harder to attack other targets.

Sure thing, if that election had taken place under entirely different circumstances he would have a good reason to be enchanted, however it appears that he, temporarily at least, has forgotten that the US has fully and completely assumed the roll of an old fashioned colonial oppressor and that "freedom" is pure fiction.
