Australia May Increase Its Troops in Iraq After Italy Withdraws

March 16 (Bloomberg) -- Australia may increase its troops in Iraq after Italy withdraws its 3,000 soldiers, Prime Minister John Howard said.

Australia last month announced it would send an extra 450 soldiers to Iraq to provide security for Japanese forces helping to rebuild the war-torn nation. It already had 880 soldiers serving in Iraq.

``We don't have any current plans to increase that number, but I cannot rule out some changes in the future and I don't intend to do so,'' Howard told parliament in Canberra today.

Yes, we have no plans today.

3. Howard is a liar and a campaign promise breaker
Still waiting to hear the yelps of outrage from the same conservatives who acted as if treason had been committed when Bill Clinton went back on his campaign promise of a middle class tax cut in 1993.

7. Won't happen - Sorry Freepers!!!
We haven't even sent our "Brutal" Brigade yet. They leave on ANZAC Day ( April 26th i think) which is celebrated here in Oz as the great day of OZ fighters dying in all the wars they have been involved in. I'm sure American's have a similiar day. They are replacing the Dutch, who the Japanese "oil" engineers couldn't handle. This brigade is "brutal"! (Ask Indonesian Kopassus Special Ops forces). The "Dutch" were far from brutal!
After Howard sends this Brigade he's got nothing left. Nearly all our special Ops are already in Iraq or Afghanistan already.

9. I'm not aware of America having anything other than Veterans Day
I like the "OZ" expression.

Like to see Australia pull out of Iraq.
