Bush brushes off qualms about Social Security
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N15625688.htm

WASHINGTON, March 15 (Reuters) - President George W. Bush on Tuesday brushed aside a new poll showing a lack of enthusiasm for revamping Social Security and said he was just beginning his campaign for private retirement accounts.

"I'm just getting started on this issue," Bush told reporters during an Oval Office meeting with Jordan's King Abdullah.

A Washington Post-ABC News poll showed that after a three-month effort to try to build support for restructuring Social Security, 35 percent of Americans approve of Bush's handling of the issue. That was down from 38 percent in mid-December.

Fifty-six percent disapproved of his approach versus 52 percent in December.

1. Isn't this their third try to get this BS to sell

McClellan said a few weeks ago that they hadn't even gotten to the plate on this issue yet when in fact they had been trying to sell it for over a month.

7. Next, he'll force it down our throats.
And we have to swallow or else. There's no more democracy in this country.

23. Has to do with good manners
Many use the alternative N/T (no text) to indicate that the entire message is contained in the subject line. Sort of like the line, "this page intentionally left blank," in a report to indicate on-purpose.

11. Cheney is right now meeting with the rich owners of society
(as in "ownership society") planning how they can save the boss's plan.

We should expect something any day.

8. *Co doesn't care what anyone thinks -
those polls are a "focus group" just as much as millions of protesters in the streets prior to Operation Iraqi Liberation (OIL) were.

The "wouldn't it be great if I were a dick-tater" asswipe doesn't get, want or hear any message from anyone.

:argh:

14. Mark it down: "I'm just getting started"
So that when he abandons this stupid hobbyhorse shortly after the equinox, we can all write letters to the editor to show how President Resolute ran like a bunny (again) when the going got tough . . .

Keep it up Bush, keep trying to wipe out Social Security. Keep it up right through 2008. You've finally gone too fricking far.

16. Of course he brushed it aside.
WE, the people, are like a minor irritation to him. This keeps up, people are really gonna get P.O.'d.
Sometimes I wish we were more like the 'old' Europe. How does the idea of aa national strike sound to everyone? How's about we all just STAY THE FUCK HOME for a few days?

21. His spin is just too funny
"My first concern is that members of Congress would think the public didn't think there was a problem," Bush said. "But they do and I am mindful that when the public says there is a problem we've got to work to solve it."

24. BushCo KNOWS
...that with the right packaging, they can sell anything to at least half the people all the time. It really doesn't matter to them what damage their agenda will do - to world peace, the environment, democracy, the economy, or present and future retirees.

After all, they will be caught up in the rapture before they are prosecuted for their crimes, and evidently they've figured out a way to take it with them.

25. Goodness, with all that is going wrong in the world
such as: the war in Iraq, the price of oil, China thumbing their noses at us, our economy still sucks and won't get better with increased price of oil, supposedly running out of oil, Afghanistan women setting themselves on fire, Iran thumbing their noses at us, THIS is what Bush is running around doing??? Trying to trash Social Security?? They must really need the money from the trust fund badly, no???
