Tom DeLay Denies Ethical Lapse in Trips

By DAVID ESPO, AP Special Correspondent

WASHINGTON - House Majority Leader Tom DeLay strongly denied wrongdoing Tuesday in connection with two overseas trips financed by outside organizations, and said he is anxious to discuss the facts with leaders of the House ethics committee.

"I feel confident I've done nothing wrong," the Texas Republican said as fellow lawmakers and aides sought to assess the impact of fresh controversy on the party in general.

The Texas Republican laid the blame for the recent controversy at the feet of congressional Democrats and what he charged was inaccurate newspaper reporting.

He said there was nothing wrong with either of the two trips. One involved going to South Korea (news - web sites) in 2001 — a trip bankrolled by the Korea-U.S. Exchange Council.

7. That's right
The Republicans control the House and so they rewrote the rules. Now you have to have a majority on the ethics committee to look into ethics violations. It used to be you only needed 5 votes.

There are 5 Repubs and 5 Demos on the committee. The Repub House leadership took the more moderate Repub members off the committee. 2 of the 5 Repubs on the committee have received campaign donations from DeLay. The Repub House leadership "fixed" the committee to protect DeLay.

I hope this case illustrates the need to have a Dem majority in the House.

If the Dems had a majority, Tom DeLay could not keep doing illegal things with no consequence.

6. ROUNDUP!
We need to round them ALL up, all at once... turn it from a media frenzy into a media BLITZKRIEG (or "Shock and Awe" if you prefer). Get DeLay, Kenny-boy, Rummy, Martha (just for fun), Osama (again, just for fun) and air it on TV. Turn it into a reality show called "The Big House" or something. THEN maybe I'll start liking reality television, you know, when it actually IS reality.

I forgot, We do get more:

More wars, courtesy of the Iran/Contra criminals, BFEE and the PNAC "crazies".

17. Nothing Can Touch Delay, Of Course, He Owns the Ethics Committee...
and his party owns the entire Government, the news media, the churches, and the voting machinez.

Still, it must be getting hard for people to ignore the stench of corruption.

As Tom Delay awoke one morning from uneasy dreams he found himself transformed in his bed into a gigantic insect. He was lying on his hard, as it were armor-plated, back and when he lifted his head a little he could see his domelike brown belly divided into stiff arched segments on top of which the bed quilt could hardly stay in place and was about to slide off completely. His numerous legs, which were pitifully thin compared to the rest of his bulk, waved helplessly before his eyes.

What has happened to me? he thought. It was no dream. His room, a regular human bedroom, only rather too small, lay quiet within its four familiar walls....

DeLay Blames Partisanship for Uproar
----------------------------------------
By DAVID ESPO, AP Special Correspondent
Tuesday, March 15, 2005
----------------------------------------

A defiant House Majority Leader Tom DeLay blamed partisanship and innuendo Tuesday for the uproar surrounding his overseas travel, but Republicans reported stirrings of concern over his political durability.

(snip)

DeLay laid some of the brouhaha over the travel at the feet of House Democrats, whom he said are seeking to "tear down the House and burn it down in order to gain power."

But in unusually blunt criticism, he attacked The Washington Post for its coverage of his trips. In the case of one story about the England trip, he accused the paper of a "zeal to leave readers with the false impression that I did something that I did not do."

The Post did not return two calls seeking comment.

take this quote and shove it up your ass:

"We're talking about something that's very dangerous, when the American people have lost the trust and respect of the president of the United States," DeLay said. "If he's lied on inhaling, on his draft record, on Gennifer Flowers, on Kathleen Willey, on Paula Jones, on other things, then how can he stand before the American people and the American people trust what he has to say."

49. Lemme see, now-
A corrupt, criminal (republican) politician who has just been outed (again) claims it is a result of partisanship. Translation: the dems are pointing out the lies and corruption and the pigs are covering for him-does he really mean to say that the dems stand for truth and honesty and the pigs do not?
It appears to me that has to be the logical conclusion since it is only partisanship that has the thieves on the run. He has not thought this through.
