TX: 3 dead, 1 wounded in shooting at freeway intersection (assault rifle)
http://www.mysanantonio.com/sharedcontent/APStories/stories/D88REESG0.html

A man with an assault rifle stood through his car's sunroof and opened fire on another vehicle at a North Dallas intersection Tuesday, killing three men and critically wounding a fourth, police said.

Authorities were searching for the gunman, whose car was described as a white or silver Jaguar.

A police officer stopped for the light at the intersection witnessed the shootings and stopped to help when the second car crashed next to a former Mrs Baird's Bread factory, police Sgt. Gil Cerda said.

No motive has been determined, but the shooting came soon after a fight was reported at a nearby bar. A car reported at the bar resembled the one from which the shots were fired, Cerda said.

http://www.nbc5i.com/traffic/4281777/detail.html

Dallas police are looking for a gunman after a man is shot on a Dallas highway over the weekend. The shooting took place Saturday afternoon on Interstate 30 near Cockrell Hill.

Investigators said they are looking for a light blue Ford Mustang convertible. Someone inside the Mustang fired a shot into another car.

The bullet struck the driver of that car in the neck. Police said the victim was able to pull over and call 911.

The shooting victim was treated at a Dallas hospital and has been released.

5. Despite The Veneer Of Gentility - Dallas Is A Very Hostile City
It is a town of forced separation and segregation. Since there are few natural barriers (its flat) gated and fenced communities are used to segregate the classes making the wealth differences obvious to all.

Add to this the fact that Dallas has fewer employed people today than at the beginning of January 2000, you have an explosive combination of class warfare, religious antagonism, and unemployed people.

be Mockingbird and I45, better known as Central Expwy. This is in Highland Park, a few blocks away from SMU and Highland Park Methodist Church. "A police officer stopped for the light at the intersection witnessed the shootings and stopped to help....?"

Did the police officer fail to get the license number off the Jag?

This isn't adding up and I've yet to check in with local news, but I will soon, maybe. I'm not sure I even want to know more.

At least San Antonio is on top of the situation.

28. Technically you may be correct, but when my family moved to Dallas
in 1969, I45 and 75 were the same and still are. I45 ends just south of downtown and picks up again in Collin or next county ands continues on North.

The Bookstore
The bookstore is at Northpark Mall. If you're travelling north on 75/Central Expressway (this is what I45 becomes north of downtown), exit and turn left on Northwest highway. The mall is immediately on your right. The bookstore was not in the main mall building, but in one of the satellite buildings out by the street. If you notice in the movie, the door has J-1500 above it.

NOTE: the bookstore has been closed since 2000 or longer.

And since when is the University Park/Highland Park/Bairds Bread considered NORTH Dallas??? Granted we are not very original w/ naming areas of the city <for nonlocals: there's North Dallas, Far North Dallas, East Dallas, Far East Dallas> but I always picture North Dallas as being north of/outside of the 635 loop.

North Dallas is a little more nebulous. North Dallas to me is anything north of downtown up to 635. Its more a general geographical reference than a neighborhood reference. Also, remember that the frontage/access road that this happened on IS the extreme eastern border of University Park.

44. A very long time ago, this area was considered to be "North Dallas".
I once had a book about the history of Dallas written by a woman who grew up in early Dallas. Highland Park/University Park was the 1st suburb of Dallas for the rich and the famous so they didn't have to live in the "ugliness of downtown". Turtle Creek was part of the development. Dallas does have a rich history, hardly anyone knows.

13. Dallas Gunman Kills 3 From Car Sunroof
Guardian

Tuesday March 15, 2005 3:46 PM

DALLAS (AP) - A man in a Jaguar stood up through the sunroof and opened fire with an assault rifle on another vehicle early Tuesday, killing three men and critically wounding a fourth, police said.

Authorities were searching for the gunman, whose car was described as a white or silver Jaguar with fancy wheels, said Cpl. Max Geron, a Dallas police spokesman.

The shootings happened about 2 a.m. on a highway frontage road near the Southern Methodist University campus.

A police officer waiting at a traffic light at the intersection witnessed the shootings and stopped to help when the second car crashed, police Sgt. Gil Cerda said. Police policy prohibited the officer from pursuing the fleeing vehicle because he already had a prisoner from an unrelated case in his back seat, Geron said.

No motive has been determined, but the shooting happened soon after a fight was reported at a nearby bar. A car reported at the bar resembled the one from which the shots were fired, Geron said.

23. "Banana Clips" were always legal to buy
While the AWB was in effect, I bought several high-capacity magazines for my 10/22 rifle. All the AWB did was make it illegal for manufacturers to sell new-production magazines; there were already millions of 20-40 rd magazines produced and in circulation before the ban went into effect, and they were always legal to sell.

27. DMN: Victims' names, officer not allowed to pursue shooter
Edited on Tue Mar-15-05 12:23 PM by rainbow4321
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/news/localnews/stories/wfaa050315_wz_roadrage.13d8d38cc.html

Three of the victims were dead at the scene. They are Eddie Pech, 36; Bernardo Andrade, 21; and Favio Andrade, 19, all of Dallas, Dallas police Sgt. Max Geron said. Their relationships were not known. The fourth was rushed to Baylor University Medical center. He was in critical condition, Geron said.

Police policy prohibited the officer from pursuing the fleeing vehicle because he already had a prisoner from an unrelated case in his back seat, Geron said.

The car with the gunman was described as a late-model white Jaguar with flashy rims. The driver is believed to have two accomplices with him, police said.

“The offense occurred in the city of University Park, so they certainly have jurisdiction on that. How given their manpower … they were certainly overwhelmed by the gravity of the crime,” he said. “The whole crime scene was pretty big so we off any assistance we could.”

On edit: The news clip from Ch 8 that is with the article said that it is believed the men in the shooter's car were 2 Hispanic men.

61. Supposedly, the pub attracts a different group on Monday nights
With any luck, maybe the shooter was known to this Monday night group and can be found soon.

http://www.mysanantonio.com/sharedcontent/APStories/stories/D88RJM302.html

Turiace and others said Jack's Pub is normally a safe, friendly place that hosts festivals and volleyball games and attracts a college crowd from SMU.

But the clientele shifts a bit on Monday nights, when the business advertises $2 drinks, a packed dance floor thumping with two DJs and a time so good "You won't believe it's not Saturday," according to the pub's Web site.

The pub's owners, two brothers who also operate an upscale restaurant in Dallas, did not return messages left by The Associate Press at the pub, their homes and the restaurant.

"Apparently, there was a dispute on the dance floor in which somebody got hit or punched," said Turiace, 35. "The guy just got angry and decided to pursue it. It wasn't anything out of the ordinary that would lead to this. I guess certain people have it in their minds that this is their type of proper justice," Turiace said. "That really scares me."

would have already happened. An officer was prohibited from pursuing because he had someone in the back seat. Give me a break! UP/HP Police are notorious in Dallas for being extremely HARD ASS.

Personal experience going back to 1975, and I don't think they've gone soft. Dallas Police back up? Where were they? 2:00am on Dallas streets they are everywhere, especially in this area of the city. Lots of bars, students and potential DUI's. I'm not buying this "story".

it was the DPD police officer that was transporting the person in his back seat. That's a fairly wide-known policy by the way. The police I know (DPD) follow it. I don't think the HP/UP police showed up until later. Realize, that just south of that intersection is the southbound on-ramp to Central. I'm sure the Jag took it and was able to disappear quite quickly.

South of Mockingbird, you have two exits you could take and then either get on I-45, dump into downtown or Deep Ellum or split off on Woodall Rogers where you can go north or south on I-35E. From there you can get on I-30 if you go south or 114 if you go north. All of these choices you can accomplish within 5 mins of entering Central at Mockingbird. The police couldn't cover all these choices that quickly.

You obviously know far more than I do about Dallas. Good luck.

But, I will add DPD could have responded far more quickly than they apparently did. As well as the HP/UP Police force and all their helicopters as well. This was an easy one. "They" let it go. Why?

on edit:

Wake up tx_dem41.

I think you might have missed a couple of freeways. I30, I20/Texas80, I must be confused.

73. UP/HP probably has 3 cars covering all of the Park Cities that time..
of night and this happened on the very edge (in fact SE corner) of the Park Cities. The main police dept. headquarters for HP/UP is about 2 miles away through winding, narrow residential streets except for at the end where you get on Mockingbird. By that time, the car could be anywhere from 5-10 miles away.

As for a helicopter, I'm pretty sure the helicopter pad is aways away too. By the time the helicopter is up in the air, they probably would have a 8x8mile (or 64 square mile) area to cover for a search. Two minutes later that's a 100 square mile area.

Quite frankly, I don't see where your beef is with HP/UP (and I have received nit-picky tickets from them so I'm not a fan of the dept). The crime scene is about 10 feet from being in Dallas (the altercation earlier at Jack's Pub happened in Dallas). But, the shooting happened about 30-50 yds from the on-ramp to Central and from there, as I've pointed out, its easy to disappear in a matter of a few minutes.

What am I supposed to wake up about? You keep intimating that their is some agenda being played out. Can you actually just come out and state it?

Oh, and its "tx_dem41", not "tex_dem41".

76. They found and impounded the Jag today
Looks like they found it in the Grove...
The injured victim was a minor--interesting since the Monday night gatherings at this club are supposed to be for 18 and older. The news profiled a couple of the victims tonight. One had twin babies, another was a restaurant worker. Monday was the club's night for service and restaurant workers...$2 drinks, club's cover charge waived, etc...

About 9 a.m., police found the Jaguar suspected in the shooting at Belgrade Avenue near Parkdale Park in Pleasant Grove. Dallas police were interviewing the victim of an earlier bar fight and another man Tuesday evening, but no arrests had been made.

Police did not find a gun in the Jaguar impounded from the Pleasant Grove home but are conducting forensic tests.

This city is sick, really, really sick and it embodies all that is wrong in this country. Sorry and God knows, I do love Dallas. It has just quite simply gone to hell.
