NEW DELHI (Reuters) - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice (news - web sites) said Tuesday the United States is concerned about China's military build-up due to Beijing's tensions with Taiwan, an island Washington has vowed to defend.

"Certainly, the military spending is concerning because it is taking place at a time when the cross-Strait issue (with Taiwan) is not still resolved and in which the United States has certain commitments to a peaceful solution," Rice said at the start of a six-nation trip to Asia that includes China.

5. I want everyone to remember
how badly we handled the situation with the downed military spy plane in 2001. We are unprepared to do ANYTHING at all diplomatically with the Chinese military complex, and certainly unable to prevent them from doing whatever the hell they want in Taiwan with their military.

The fact is that we were totally unprepared to deal with the culture of chinese military politics in 2001, and our inability to negotiate effectively from the beginning means that we really don't get them and they don't "get" us either, still, in the 21st century.

Rice especially should be concerned because the woman doesn't know her ass from a hole in the ground, much less the real rigors of diplomacy instead of our usual passive-aggressive bullying style.

What is abundantly clear is that all this administration CAN do at the moment is posture and whine like the little bedwetting pissants they are, at least until they grow up and start appointing real Secretaries of State again.

9. Well, since our aggressive and asinine foreign policy is largely to
blame, I wonder if she is bragging or complaining? We should be putting that little used thing "diplomacy" to work. Why do we have to always be making threats publicly and seemingly doing nothing privately? You would think that the US wants conflict and tension. Surely not.......

CHINESE Premier Wen Jiabao warned the United States
and Japan today against any "direct or indirect interference"
on the Taiwan issue, voicing concern over the US-Japan
security alliance.

"The question of Taiwan is China's internal affairs and it
brooks no direct or indirect interference by any foreign
forces."

What happens if Bushco doesn't butt out
of the Chinese Domestic Issues?

Their threat? Clever. If he keeps up his current nose-thumbing
at Beijing, they will repeg their currency and dump all of their
US treasury holdings on the market and never again buy any
US paper.

as your Secretary of State.

China's build up of military strength is not something that is being done with a particular short term goal. It is a long term strategy. In another post a few minutes ago I told about the fact that there are 14 military universities in Nanjing alone. These universities have not been built overnight. You are unlikely to meet even one single product from these universities as they do not come into the civilian world at all!!

If Rice does not know this, then she is a bigger fool than I imagined. China does not need to act in haste. It's strategy is to have the US begging at its doorstep as the debt grows and grows. Your stupid pResident and his neocons are so darn self-serving that they have lost all reasoning power and they have no worthwhile intelligence service to speak of.

If they believed there were WMD in Iraq it is because they were stupid. If they did not know a building was to be hit in the US it was because they were stupid. If they believe they are winning the war in Iraq, it is because they are stupid. And the whole world is laughing at this stupidity!! (How else would an incompetent man as Porter Goss be appointed as head of the CIA and less said about your Homeland Security Chief!! Peter Principle at its very best.)

And for the mass of Americans to go along with them is because they are exactly what the Daily Mirror said they were on November 4th 2004 front page!!

15. I'm no international whiz kid, BUT
Don't you think that China is looking at how much of our debt they hold, then looking at how overstretched our military is, and the idiocy in charge of our country, and saying: Now is the time? Time to take back Taiwan. Time to put the U.S. in its place. Time for China to become the new super power.
