Rice Says She Has No Ambition to Run for President
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Sunday said she has no ambition to succeed her boss George W. Bush as president and has no intention of running for the Republican nomination in 2008.

"I don't have any desire to run for president, " Rice said in an interview with "This Week" on ABC. "I don't intend to. I won't do it."

Rice, 50, who has been quoted describing her self as "mildly pro-choice" although the Republican Party is staunchly anti-abortion, has been considered as a possible candidate in the next presidential election.

A number of unofficial Web sites have sprung up, including http://rice2008.com, touting her as a good choice for the Republican Party in 2008. Supporters believe she would attract women and minority voters to the party and make a good president.

3. Oh really, like she'd ever get elected. Not to be mean spirited but she
has two big things against her for the good ol' boy crowd. 1. the fact that she's a woman; and 2. she's black.

I wouldn't vote for her because she's a bush ass-kissing pandering witch, the woman thing and her race wouldn't be what would turn me against her.

She's flattering herself if she thinks she would even stand the proverbial snowball's chance in hell.

17. Give me a break. You don't have any idea of what a ruckus using the
word bitch can cause here on DU. It's one of those deals that can bring down the self-righteous condemnation of the verbage police who get their shorts in a bunch over someone using a particular term. In the case of the word 'bitch' a much overblown and overdramatic skirmish that lasted for thread after thread after thread.

35. Ha!
I don't know any witches who would kiss Bush's ass. In deference to my lady pit bull, I wouldn't call Condosleeza a bitch, either.

I can't think of a pejorative bad enough for her. Eeeewwww. She is just one mean-spirited, mean looking, nasty woman.

4. "Little Star" would make such a great President. Maybe if we can keep
pushing her out here on the "Internets" she will reconsider. I cry every time I read about the way she clawed her self up into the WH. Her story is a true inspiration for all young girls.

Unlike that horrible Hillary who had everything handed to her on a silver platter, Dr. Rice "earned" her postions.

18. Of course she doesn't.
The lack of political aspiration is what makes this administration so completely unconcerned with public opinion.

If she wanted to run for office, she'd have to care what people think. At least a little.

This lame duckness makes them all the more dangerous.

21. Your private life comes under great scruitiny
...when you run for national office. As it is, I'm astounded that no one in the media ever touches hers...it's almost as if they are afraid to tread there, there's a total cone of silence.

Also, she can be appointed, and appointed, and appointed (very much like GHWB, when you think about it) to this job, that job, and the other, but she has never done held any elective office, and she hasn't yet had to do any campaigning. It's a different deal when you have to raise cash, make campaign stops, kiss babies, be followed by a press pool...there's no control, you don't have the same security bubble.

She has said in the past that she'd like to run the NFL.

24. The republican party is stauchly anti-abortion?
no it isn't, and the fact that the highest up flunkie says she's pro-choice is an example of that. They are saying they're pro-choice to get what they want from the fundies, but there are many pro-choice republican women (and men) as well as rebublicans who aren't necessarily anti gay marriage.

26. Saying this accomplishes two things
  1. It plants the seed of considering her for the presidency.

  2. It demonstrates her loyalty to her husb…the (p)resident.

Of course she wants to be president. Her ruthlessness and ambition have landed her just a few steps away from it already. She certainly hasn’t been stopped by lack of competence or murderous negligence, her loyalty and connection to the blivet** and his cabal of neocons are all that are needed. Her coyness is repulsive and unconvincing.

27. Rice Says She Won't Run for President
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=542&ncid=703&e=1&u=/ap/20050313/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/rice_politics

Think maybe she sees the writing on the wall: unless you are an anti-choice religious rightwinger, you can't make it through the GOP primaries.

Rice Says She Won't Run for President

WASHINGTON - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice (news - web sites) on Sunday ruled out running for president, responding to speculation fueled by a recent poll showing support for a Rice candidacy.

Rice told The Washington Times last week, "I have never wanted to run for anything," although she seemed to leave the door open to the possibility.

She closed the door in appearances on Sunday talk shows, telling NBC's "Meet the Press," "I will not run for president of the United States."

"I won't run," she told ABC's "This Week." "I won't. How's that? Is that categorical enough?"

In a poll conducted in February, 42 percent of voters said Rice should run for the White House.

The survey, conducted by the Siena College Research Institute and sponsored by Hearst Newspapers, found that 81 percent of people would vote for a woman for president; 53 percent thought Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (news - web sites), D-N.Y., should try for the job.

28. I saw her say it on Meet the Press
I doubt it has anything to do with her position on choice. She simply isn't interested. She made that clear. It's obvious to me she doesn't have the temperament to be a politician.

It is a sad reality I do not like her believe me but 'the south' and like minded states would not elect a woman and a black woman at that, it just won't happen. I guess my comments can be considered racist but we live in a racist society just pointing out the facts.
