Two suspected attacks on oil installations left pipelines ablaze in Iraq on Saturday.

One blaze occurred between Samara and Fallujah to the east of the Iraqi capital, while the other started after a suspected attack close to the northern city of Kirkuk. snip

Meanwhile, west of Baghdad, on the road to Abu Ghraib, a US convoy was attacked on Saturday causing damage to at least one tank.

3. Is a "suspected attack" different from a "confirmed attack"?
I mean what is in doubt here? Do they think it was an
unfortunate accident with a cigarette?

6. An interesting but little-known fact:

The US loves to outsource. We've outsourced our military duties. We have a huge Private Army in Iraq and elsewhere. Meals are outsourced (to Marriott, Sodexho, KBR).

No more cafeteria slop! With a surly cook dumping your mashed potatoes with a big spoon. Now, your dinner comes in a box...like packaged burritos & Triscuit crackers.

We've even outsourced torture (now goes to Titan Corp. & CACI).

Who is guarding the 900 miles of Iraqi pipeline? Answer = it's been outsourced. The US has divided up the pipeline and has turned over the patrol to different Iraqi clans, or tribes.

These contracts are jealously guarded and fought over. Many of these tribes are not friendly with each other. In fact, they despise each other. They would love nothing more than to take a little more of their neighbour's turf, in exchange for more Iraqi Dinars (is that what they are?).

Any connection?
