President's Calif. Campaign Chief Explores Run For Governor
President's Calif. Campaign Chief Explores Run For Governor

POSTED: 5:21 pm PST March 12, 2005
UPDATED: 5:36 pm PST March 12, 2005

SACRAMENTO -- Los Angeles financier Gerry Parsky, who coordinated President George W. Bush's 2004 presidential campaign in California and chairs the University of California Board of Regents, said he is exploring a run for governor next year if Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger decides not to run.

In a statement released Friday, Parsky insisted his focus remains on the UC system, but said, "Should either President Bush or Governor Schwarzenegger call upon me to consider additional public service in another capacity, I would seriously consider the honor."

Parsky's announcement represented an early sign of alternative candidates should Schwarzenegger decide to return to the private sector or mount a campaign for the U.S. Senate next year.

Schwarzenegger, elected in the October 2003 recall contest against former Gov. Gray Davis, has not commented on whether he will run again. Last November, he told CNN talk show host Larry King he would decide this spring.

1. Good he's nothing but a hack for Bush
Schwarzenegger is a shoe-in to be re-elected, and perhaps an exceptional Republican other than him could win, but this guy? What is Bush's California approval rating? About 40%-42%?

All the Democrat has to do is make the race a referendum on Bush. This guy has been tied to the Bush family for decades, and it's not like he could establish a perception of being independent from him as the Boobengrabber has.

Gerald Bush Parsky. I can see the morphing ads now.

2. True, if were an honest election. But the REPS are working on rigging it;

they're trying to recertify decertified machines in some counties, plus there's the Gropinator's "gerryrig California" initiative going on the ballot, which could lose 10 seats for Dems. Plus they forced out Kevin Shelley, so now we've got a Repug Secretary of State appointed by Arnold.

3. schwarzenegger is not a shoe in, and this ape doesn't even count
Schwarzenegger has called war on the teachers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in this state, along with all state workers

He has threatened to call a special election to get rid of state pensions, redistrict california, etc.

I do not think he will get the support he thinks

If the democratic leadership had any guts, which they don't they would start collecting signatures for a recall

Until the democrats start playing like the repukes they will continue to lose

If Gandi practiced his philosophy on hitler, hitler would have killed him

8. Arnold is considered a shoe-in to be re-elected because they plan
on cheating like in Florida and Ohio. That is why Arnold is not worried about upseting most labor union groups in Calif.

4. Shoe-in?
Nah. Arnie's not a shoe-in. He'll have practically every public sector worker in the state organized against him. Boxer could beat him. The man has never faced a real election, and didn't have to face Davis in a debate---I don't think he'd hold up in a real contest. The man's a one trick pony.

But SOS Shelley left office under rather bizarre circumstances, and now Arnie appoints a new one. He has also let Diebold off the hook. If you're looking to rig an election, those are the pieces you need.

BTW, Dems in Washington are claiming that Rove is trying to bring down their SOS. I'm suspicious that's what happened to Shelley. Wouldn't surprise me at all to find out that he was living in the closet.

5. Before this goes any further...
... the term is "shoo-in", not "shoe in". Sorry to be so nitpicky this early in the morn. ;)

6. I think you guys mean "shoo-in"
But then again, Der Gropenfuhrer said of the nurses that they are "a special interest" and that he is "alvays kicking their butts," so maybe "shoe-in" is appropriate after all. ;-)

One day soon maybe all the nurses, firefighters, teachers, cops and all the other public servants kicked in the butt by Arnie will have a chance to line up and do unto him as he has done unto others...

12. Part of the Bush "SS team." Everyone remembers that glorious ...
Edited on Mon Mar-14-05 07:20 PM by struggle4progress
... day (May 2, 2001) when Boy George stood in the Rose Garden to tell us "Our government will run large budget surpluses over the next 10 years."

Translated into ordinary language, this means, "Let's screw the middle class and ruin social security."

On that very day, Bush announced his SS hit squad, including Gerry Parsky (R), who (as former Assistant Secretary of the Treasury under Ford) seems well-qualified to help wreck the federal budget.
