New resting place sought for unclaimed ashes of mental patients
---------------------------------
SALEM, Ore. Years after they died, thousands of Oregon mental patients could finally get a dignified final resting place.

At least, that's the hope of a group of legislators, mental-health advocates and others who are trying to raise money for the effort.

Right now, the cremated remains of some 35-hundred former patients are stacked in a storage facility at a state psychiatric hospital in Salem.

The hospital is where much of the 1975 movie "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" was filmed.

1. The McMurphy Memorial Mausoleum?
Something like that might be appropriate.

4. Thank you truth. We need to remember.
Reagun purged the hospitals in the 1980's and many patients were thrown out on street corners after years of hospitalization. They knew no other life. Some were murdered, some were jailed, some committed suicide and some just died for various reasons. I have a friend that has been on the street for many years. Somehow he has survived, I don't know how.

I wonder what will happen with the group homes now that this admin. is making such drastic cuts. Whatever happens it is guaranteed to be very tragic.

We must not forget.

Thank you again.

peace
