Warlords blamed for widespread rape in Afghanistan

KABUL, March 12 (Reuters) - Warlords and their private armies are involved in widespread rape, murder and human trafficking in Afghanistan, according to the U.S.-based Human Rights Watch (HRW). snip

"Outside Kabul, warlords and their troops in many areas are implicated in widespread rape of women and children, murder, illegal detention, forced displacement, human trafficking and forced marriage," the rights group said in a statement. snip

The rights group praised the marginalisation of two formerly powerful warlords, former vice president and defence minister Marshall Mohammad Qasim Fahim and the self-styled "Emir of Herat" Ismail Khan, but lamented the presence of several key warlords in positions of influence.

Last month, President Hamid Karzai appointed Abdul Rashid Dostum, as his military adviser even though the ethnic Uzbek commander has been cited in several human rights reports.

1. That's the taste of freedom
Dostum is probably the most wicked man in all Central Asia, by the way. He reportedly has a special taste in gruesome punishments.

2. You're right about Dostum it seems.
Here's just one of many bios of him: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abdul_Rashid_Dostum

There MAY be some "favorable" references to him on the internet, but I don't have the patience to look for them right now. He was also strongly connected to what could only be described as a MASSSACRE of captured prisoners. Reportedly, US officers were present, but "looked the other way". This was pretty well documented by BBC, and was available on the web a few years back. I'll look for it later.

7. Where are all the posters who wanted the US to run into Afghanistan...
Edited on Sat Mar-12-05 07:50 PM by NNN0LHI
...to help these Afghan women and stop this kind of shit a few years ago? Taliban doing this stuff is bad and we got to kill them all they said. Now that our allies are doing the same things (or worse) to these women and little girls and no one says shit. WTF? They must not want to bother their beautiful minds with these reports or something? I imagine they will all be back when Chimp Boy starts preparing for his next invasion.
