Assad commits to full withdrawal from Lebanon: UN envoy
BEIRUT (AFP) - Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has committed himself to a full withdrawal of Syrian military and intelligence units from Lebanon, a special UN envoy said.

The announcement was made in a statement received in Beirut after UN envoy Terje Roed-Larsen met Assad in the northern Syrian town of Aleppo to press for a timetable for a pullout.

Roed-Larsen said he would now inform UN Secretary General Kofi Annan (news - web sites) of the details of a timetable for the pullout.

SYRIA - Syria's president has given the UN's special envoy to the Middle East assurances that Damascus will withdraw all of its troops from Lebanon.

Terje Roed-Larsen said Bashar Assad has promised him a timetable for a complete withdrawal.

He told the Associated Press he would released details to UN Secretary General Kofi Annan early next week.

A Syrian convoy of 62 trucks carrying army equipment and soldiers left Lebanon and headed to Syria on Saturday, AP reported.

and then he will launch into of his Hitlerian tirades about "Assad being bad" and "Syria must leave" while his slut Condi stands to one side looking at him with admiring eyes.
