New Storms Heap More Misery on E. Coast
East Coast residents recovering from Isabel are cleaning up again after another round of storms and at least one tornado brought down more trees, flooded already saturated areas and forced some people to empty refrigerators they'd just refilled.

Severe storms battered the Richmond area with winds up to 100 mph early Tuesday morning, and the National Weather Service said an unknown number of tornadoes touched down six times in the area. At one of the sites, about 40 miles west of the city, a mobile home was shredded after being tossed about 25 feet.

"Isabel was gravy compared to this guy," Richmond resident James Whitaker said. "We went down and got in the closet downstairs and stayed in it."

No serious injuries were reported from the twister, part of a weather system that also caused damage in Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Isabel has been blamed for at least 38 deaths, 23 of them in Virginia.

1. Dear God (or whatever)
We know you're pissed off at Bush, but please don't blame us. Your nearly successful attempt to shut down the Federal Government for weeks has caused us to have to throw away all the food in our refridgerator. Then the trash chute broke. God, do you know how the contents of over 900 hundred families' trash smells after a few days? Don't let the devil ever smell that or he'll encorporate it into a permanent feature of hell.

Anyway God, we are very sorry. We didn't elect him either, so please lighten up on us.

6. It isn't us
It's Pat Robertson. Everytime that moron opens his mouth about what God thinks or God wants, the Almighty feels the need to do a little smiting. I once asked God why that was, and I got the reply, "There's just something about that jerk that pisses me off. Tell the good folks of Virginia that it's nothing personal against them."

If I was a little bolder, I might have suggested an inoperable tumor or a really painful butt boil to the Ineffable, but it's a dicey business confusing the parts of Creator and creation.

2. Train Service Cancelled in DC and Phila
Eastern PA also had tornados. Parts of downtown Baltimore were flooded again. My office building in Silver Spring lost power five times yesterday. Lots of downed trees. Apparently, 100,000 people are still without power. An investment house I own near Baltimore survived Isabel fine, but developed a huge leak on Monday night, and needs a new roof.

4. including Isabel
there have been 9 named storms this season....
additionally we had a cold and wet spring, and a very wet summer

I read an article years ago that found that the more "named" storms we had the worse the winter... locally our weather forcasters are predicting an above average snowfall for the winter...

buying a couple of new snow shovels this weekend :)
