China passes anti-secession law re: Taiwan
Re: Yahoo! News - 3/8/05 - World/AP Asia
China Steps Up Pressure on Taiwan
by Elaine Kurtenbach (Beijing)

"China unveiled a law Tuesday authorizing an attack if Taiwan moves toward formal independence, ratcheting up pressure on the self-ruled island while warning other countries not to interfere. Taiwan denounced the legislation as a 'blank check to invade'

"The proposed anti-secession law, read out for the first time before the ceremonial National People's Congress, doesn't say what specific actions might invite a Chinese attack.

"'If possibilities for a peaceful reunification should be completely exhausted, the state shall employ nonpeaceful means and other necessary measures to protect China's sovereignty and territorial integrity,' Wang Zhaoguo, deputy chairman of the NPC's Standing Committee, told the nearly 3,000 legislators gathered in the Great Hall of the People."

Very early in his first term, Bush promised to do "whatever it takes" to protect Taiwan from a Mainland invasion. Now, will he even react with more than a passing remark to the effect that both sides had better 'use caution'?

Also in the news: Death penalty invoked for suicide attempts, and gravity no longer allowed to pull things down.

Bushco has ties to China. Bush I was ambassador before being pres. Brother Prescott sold satellite info to China, but did not, did not I say, give them updated rocketry information, that was blamed on Clinton, surprise surprise.

EDIT: Mispill'n

4. Clinton gave them nothing...all he did was renew the waiver both Reagan

and Bush 1 had given the Laural Group (sp) to sell rockets and guidance system essentials to China's space program. Most Communication companies are using Chinese rockets to launch their satellites into orbit because the Chinese do it so cheaply. the problem was at the time the Chinese were having problems and many of their rockets were crashing. US communication companies were losing billions of dollars every time one of those rockets failed. Laural group requested and received a waiver from the law against supplying hi-tech material to China. Reagan was the first one to issue this waiver then bush then clinton... Guess who got all the attention for it?
