Iran's president set to visit Venezuela
Targets of U.S. criticism to sign agreements on oil, gas

CARACAS, Venezuela (Reuters) -- The presidents of Iran and Venezuela, two major oil producers pushing to maintain high prices and at odds with U.S. global policies, meet this week for talks that could stoke tensions with Washington.

Iranian President Mohammad Khatami, whose country U.S. President George W. Bush calls part of an "axis of evil" and accuses of seeking to develop nuclear weapons, will make a three-day visit to Venezuela to begin on Thursday.

Khatami will hold talks with President Hugo Chavez, whom Washington has criticized as a regional troublemaker and who has called for a counterweight to U.S. international influence. The United States is a major buyer of Venezuelan oil, but Chavez has been seeking alternative energy partners.

3. * just dropped the whiskey bottle on the floor
They have got to be livid. What the heck are they going to do?

Syria is not playing to script - they keep not giving us an excuse. Iran is telling us to go pound sand. Russia is clearly in the game and not on our side. The Chinese are playing the Taiwan song and talking to their neighbors in asia about being smart regarding relationships with the us. NK has told us to sit down and talk or go home and deal with it. Venezuela Brazil Uruguay Argentina and Bolivia are all off the reservation. The EU's currency is slowly becoming the planets new dollar. The Iraqi's keep forgetting to surrender. Oil analysts are talking 60 and saying not to worry the recession will bring the price back down.

Oh woe is us! Nobody is respecting the planetary bully. What will we do?

4. Me thinks..
that if every person on this planet was polled as to who they admire most, the 'regional troublemaker' would wipe up the street with the white house baboon.

5. (rubs hands together)
heh he evil snicker.

This, DU:ers is Global Soap Opera at its most grand. We are eye-witnesses to the Clash of the Titans on a colossal scale.

On the one hand, we have the US: Fading Hegemon. Fomer Heavyweight Ruler of the World, now nothing but a Fat Ass who's trying desperately to Rule. He used to be trim and unstoppable, but now he's nothing more than a has-been. The world laughs at him. Before it was behind his back, now it's to his face.

The farce is becoming more dangerous. Uncle Twitterpated is brain-damaged from too many fights. But he's coherent enough to know he's now a laughing stock. He's got his rifle from his gun cabinet and he's aiming for a Showdown at the O.K. Corral.

While the world snickers, Twitter staggers down for the Final Showdown....
