Police nab gangster 'Yam Kid' - Taiwan

Wu Chun-ching ?????, listed as number one on Taiwan's most wanted list, was captured by Criminal Investigation Bureau agents in an early morning raid yesterday, just nine days after the capture of fellow partner-in crime, ex-cop gangster Hua Meng-shi ?????.

Wu, nicknamed "Yam Kid" in the criminal world, was sought for illegal weapons possession, armed robberies, kidnapping multiple counts of murder, and other various crimes. Wu is suspected to have masterminded at least six major criminal operations and dozens of other robberies.

The criminal gang created by Wu and Hua terrorized cities throughout central Taiwan since last November. Targeting affluent areas such as casinos and hotels, the gang's appetite for violence and heavy weaponry is unparalleled, police officers say.
