(Armstrong Williams) Columnist Under Fire Gets Show on Radio
http://www.nytimes.com/2005/03/03/arts/television/03arm.html

Armstrong Williams, the conservative commentator embroiled in controversy after being paid to promote Bush administration policies, has signed a contract to be a co-host of a daily radio talk show in New York.

The three-hour show, "Drive Time Dialogue," will begin on March 15 on WWRL, 1600 AM. Broadcasting from a studio installed in his Capitol Hill offices, Mr. Williams will present the conservative point of view. He will be countered by Sam Greenfield, as the liberal voice, from New York.

Adriane Gaines, the general manager of WWRL, said Mr. Williams was hired as part of an effort to "bring a new, interested audience to increase our ratings."

... Ms. Gaines, the station manager, said she did not believe Mr. Williams had been compromised as a political commentator. "We feel it's something that unfortunately happened but we can all move on," she said.

1. Greed and corruption PAY
Edited on Thu Mar-03-05 02:28 AM by SoCalDem
and if you are a republican, you get rewarded for bad behavior..
Being flamboyantly gay is about the only "no-no", if you are a repube..

John Fund..beat up his girlfriend after getting HER DAUGHTER pregnant, and forcing her to have an abortion.....Still a "respected" pundit on TV all the time....

Dick Morris..repulsive toe-sucking , prostitute-using animal, yet has written books, and enjoys a "respected" pundit status..

Scarborough..cheated on his wife, was reported to have impregnated an aide, and had a differct female coworker end up dead in his office, yet little or no "investigation" was done, and very llittle "talk" about the "event" ever occured...while there was a feeding frenzy against Condit..Scarborough gets his own TV show, and Condit gets harrassed out of office, and to this day is vilified in the press.

there have to be more, but these come immediately to mind.. Post yours to this thread :)

Mr Williams. You will have a hard time getting off Gannon and your own scandal on both a pressola and public sex scandal basis. Armstrong *is* the show, announce whatever subject you like.

9. Of COURSE he gets a show on Radio!
Long before the term came up anywhere else, "Media Whore" was a way of life, a sacred path, a high calling, in the radio business. When television would sell its soul for fifty dollars, radio would do it for fifty cents.

Still will, I see.

10. Just say no
These conservative v. liberal radio or tv exchanges are assinine, and this Sam Greenfield should say thanks but no thanks. And then prospective listeners should switch to another show. No listeners, no advertisers, no show. This hack will eventually go away.

Jeff Gannon and Armstrong Williams give new meaning to "MSM Journalists"
MSM = Male Seeking Male

I see a patttern emerging: Bush likes to hire BALD gay male reporters to shill for him.

Here is Bush with Jeff "Bulldog" Gannon:

Here is Bush with someone who LOOKS LIKE Armstrong Williams (but is actually Alphonso Jackson):

Still, you get the picture?

Armstrong Williams settled gay sexual harassment suit

It seems the conservative pundit who’s taking heat for accepting $240K from the Bush Administration in exchange for hyping the No Child Left Behind program may go on the “down low” from time to time. In 1997, Armstrong Williams (shown) was sued by a male employee, Stephen Gregory, for sexual harassment. The suit said Armstrong “grabbed buttocks and penis, tried to kiss him, and climbed into his hotel-room bed asking for affection while they were traveling together.” Williams vehemently denies all, but reportedly settled the lawsuit for an undisclosed amount of cash.

A LOTT OF IRONY FOR TRENT INTERVIEWER

Does Trent Lott's interviewer have some issues of his own he needs to work through? Armstrong Williams, the conservative talk-show host who instigated a firestorm last week by asking the senator from Mississippi whether homosexuality is a sin, is being sued for sexual harassment by a former employee who happens to be male. Last year, Stephen Gregory -- the former YMCA personal trainer whom Williams promoted to executive producer of his show -- alleged in his suit that the boss grabbed his buttocks and penis, tried to kiss him, and climbed into his hotel-room bed asking for "affection" while they were traveling together. Williams immediately held a press conference to denounce Gregory's allegations as "false, baseless, and completely without merit." Gregory's attorney, Mickey Wheatley, who says the case will probably proceed to trial this fall, has spoken with Gregory since Williams's news-making interview with Lott. "He's not that political," says Wheatley, "but his reaction was, 'That sounds like Armstrong shooting his mouth off.' " Neither Williams nor his attorney could be reached on deadline.

Conservative columnist who took $240k from Bush criticized NAACP for sexual harassment and economic “improprieties” after settling his own sexual harassment suit

Armstrong Williams lashed out at NAACP for sex harassment after settling harassment suit himself

By John Byrne | RAW STORY Editor

The conservative columnist who was fired after accepting $240,000 to promote Bush’s ‘No Child Left Behind’ law rebuked the NAACP for “charges of sexual harassment and economic improprieties” after settling a sexual harassment suit himself, RAW STORY has learned.

Just last month, in an article discussing Kweisi Mfume’s resignation from the nation’s largest civil rights lobby, Williams said the NAACP was “foundering amidst charges of sexual harassment and economic improprieties” when Mfume was hired.

Mfume, he asserted, righted the ship–cleaning up the organization’s debt and concurrently issuing overtures to Republicans. But their veteran leader, Julian Bond, who in Williams’ piece was equated with an organization plagued by harassment, economic scandal and stridently anti-Bush messages–forced him out.

And ask Armstrong what his payola for the day is. Call him every morning. Ask each day. We surely wouldn't want any more "unfortunateness" to happen now, would we?

22. Here's to you, New York, New Yooooork!
March 15, I'm warming up the phone lines. Gotta go find that primer on how to draw out the host long enough to make your point.

Because I gotta ask him, on air, how he feels about gay marriage. What with being a 'conservative' and all.
