Bush nominates state attorney general for federal judgeship

President Bush on Tuesday officially nominated Nevada Attorney General Brian Sandoval for a federal judgeship in Reno.

Sandoval, 41, was recommended for the position about three months ago by Nevada U.S. Sens. Harry Reid and John Ensign.

If approved by the Senate, Sandoval would take over the U.S. District Court seat now held by Howard McKibben.

McKibben, 64, who has been a federal district court judge since 1984, is going on senior status in April.

Sandoval also would become the first Hispanic to hold a federal judgeship in the state.

3. Ojai Person, first off, I truly respect Reid and campaigned hard from him

in past elections. However, I am concerned about certain things and this is one of them. But, I don't walk in his shoes and have to function, politically, in such a hostile environment.
