2. We lived in Jax for 7 years, when she was Miss Priss down there
My husband and I disliked her so very much. I don't know what to say except, if there's an afterlife, I hope that she comes to understand how much time she wasted on earth, working for the evil side.

There, that wasn't too ugly, was it??

"...if you ever laugh when a hearse goes by, you will be the next to die," and I've been having some bad, scary headaches lately. It's purely out of selfishness and fear for my own health/karma that I declined to state the totality of my feelings for the Owlish One.
:7

EDITED TO ADD: There will likely be some Buck 'n Tillie jokes at my dinnertable tonight, the way we used to do when we lived in Jax.

10. Wasn't Jax a panic?
and that's hilarious about the owl! She did look like an owl.

Was she as wise as an owl, though?

I am sure your liberal heart will beat for many more decades to come!

Wasn't that polite? Course, my gut feeling is you probably have it right. Hate is an awful thing isn't it? Feeling you always tried to avoid.

6. As we say in our house:
"Thank you for sharing that piece of information with me", which came from teaching our teenager what manners are for (as an example you say this to someone rather than something swearing or nasty). While I am always sorry for the family of people who die and am glad her kids got to be with her when it happened, oh well.

Tillie Fowler's horrendous civil rights record:

Voted YES on banning gay adoptions in DC.
Voted YES on Amendment to prohibit burning the US flag.
Voted YES on ending "preferential treatment" by race in college admissions.

Public services will be held Friday, March 4, 2005 at 1 p.m. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Jacksonville.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Tillie K. Fowler NROTC Scholarship Fund at Jacksonville University.

I suggest, that if you want to "honor" this person, you instead donate to The Human Rights Campaign in her name:

Memorial Gifts

Honoring a person's memory is a wonderful way to celebrate their life. You can preserve their legacy by having their name promote equality and the work of the Human Rights Campaign. Upon making a memorial donation, a family representative will be notified of the contribution you made in their loved one's name.

For more information, please contact Timothy L. Mahoney, Deputy Director for Estate Planning, at timothy.mahoney@hrc.org or by telephone at (202) 216-1563. Or if you would prefer to download a form to make an offline contribution, click here.

We may disagree with people, but we must respect other human beings. How would her spouse, child, or parent feel if they read your post?

Despicable.:

14. Yes, I know it is dispicable.
But all I have are words, but she was entrusted with political power to either do good or do harm, and she chose to do harm.

So, if she went out of her way to destroy people's lives, then please forgive me for not feeling bad about hurting her family's feelings.

11. Former U.S. Rep. Tillie Fowler Dies at 62

Former U.S. Rep. Tillie Fowler, who became prominent on defense issues during her four terms in Congress, died Wednesday, two days after suffering a brain hemorrhage. She was 62.

Gov. Jeb Bush called Fowler "a great Floridian and committed public servant. Congresswoman Fowler was a great leader and was dedicated to making the lives of Floridians better. She will be missed."

Fowler was elected to the House of Representatives in 1992, campaigning on an "eight is enough" term-limits pledge. She declined to seek re-election in 2000 though at the time she was vice chairwoman of the House Republican Conference, placing her fifth in the GOP hierarchy.

After leaving Congress in January 2001, she was mentioned as a possible secretary of the Navy in the Bush administration, but instead joined the national law firm of Holland & Knight.

Former U.S. Rep. Tillie Fowler Dead at 62
Florida Republican Dies of Brain Hemorrhage

By Adam Bernstein
Washington Post Staff Writer
Wednesday, March 2, 2005; 3:38 PM

Tillie Fowler, 62, a Florida Republican who represented Jacksonville in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1993 to 2001 and became one of the top-ranking women in her party, died of a brain hemorrhage March 2 at a hospital in Jacksonville.

Rep. Fowler, a champion of increased defense budgets during her years in Congress, had served since her retirement on the Defense Policy Board Advisory Committee, which aids the Defense Secretary on strategy and policy matters. She was appointed its chairwoman in summer 2003, succeeding Richard Perle, who stepped down amid allegations of conflicts of interest with his business ventures.

Throughout her career, Rep. Fowler was sometimes called the "Steel Magnolia" and described as a hybrid of a "Southern belle and a Marine drill sergeant."

18. Truly classless ...
 Folks, it is possible to put aside political differences and actually show an ounce of humanity when someone passes on from this life. Show yourselves to be better than the Freepers.

O8) Rest in Peace, Rep. Fowler. My best wishes and prayers for your family and friends.
