Fiorina joins World Bank short list
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7053521/

>>Carly Fiorina, the celebrity chief executive recently ousted from the top spot at Hewlett-Packard, has emerged as a strong candidate to become the next president of the World Bank, a Bush administration official said Tuesday.

Fiorina abruptly joined a short list of candidates for the influential post, along with Randall Tobias, the White House’s global AIDS coordinator, and John Taylor, Treasury Under Secretary for International Affairs. Her candidacy initially was reported by the online edition of The New York Times and then confirmed by The Associated Press, citing an unidentified official.

Oh, you lost $80 million on your last film, well here's an even bigger budget to blow.

Things are getting EXTREMELY serious if this "moran" and failure can get on any list.

I quit my last job voluntarily and haven't been able to find one since. I should have just screwed up royally and gotten fired. Then I surely would have found a new job immediately, making at least six figures.

*banging head against wall* Stupid, stupid, stupid.

8. Here's a "glowing" (NOT!!) review of her work at HP (Salon)
Link: (need day pass if you're not a subscriber)
http://www.salon.com/tech/feature/2005/02/10/carly/index.html

Read it and puke. It appears Fiorina already had political aspirations before taking the CEO job at HP. As the article concludes, there could well be a place for her in *'s administration.

10. LOL - I thought it said FLORIDA joins WB short list
as in for aid. So then the WB could impose all sorts of fun rules on that crazy-ass state! Although I think Jeb is their kind of leader anyway.

11. Carly Fiorina floated as World Bank head (vs. Paul Wolfowitz)
I think Paul has some grooming baggage as well as political...

http://news.newkerala.com/world-news/?action=fullnews&id=79485

Carly Fiorina floated as World Bank head:

: WASHINGTON, March 2 : U.S. officials considering candidates to head the World Bank have leaked the name of Carleton Fiorina, former chief executive of Hewlett-Packard Co.

Fiorina, ousted last month by HP's board, joins Paul Wolfowitz, current deputy secretary of defense, as one of two candidates anonymously suggested to reporters by Bush administration officials as potential heads of the World Bank, New York Times said Wednesday.

The current bank president, James Wolfensohn, completes his second five-year term in May.

Although neither Wolfowitz nor Fiorina are experts in development, Fiorina is believed to carry less political baggage than Wolfowitz and has a reputation for dynamic leadership, the newspaper said.

14. What a choice
The neo-con and the neo-c**t.

It would be nice if just maybe an average working man or woman could be considered for a powerful position sometime.

15. The World Bank is just an arm of American Imperialism
Since the World Bank is just another arm of American Imperialism, I'd really hate to see the PNAC'er Wolfowitz in charge of it. Who knows what projects he might sponsor...

He would probably be worse than McNamara was...

19. The way World Bank appointments often work.
Because the US gov has so much say about who gets to be at the top of the WB -- a relatively titular position -- and because that post carries such prestige as well as some very nice compensation, the POTUS will always seek to give it to some high dude he needs to move out of power but who could damage him with a Tell-All.

That's why it goes, this time, to Powell -- just as it went to McNamara back in '67 when LBJ learned Robert Strange McNamara had reversed course on Vietnam, needed to move him out of his post, but needed to make sure he didn't go public with his contrarian view at least for a while.

In McNamara's case, it took him 20+ years--until after he was replaced at the WB--to put in writing his true feelings about the futility of Vietnam.
