Looking for Votes, Not Love - • Gray Davis’s Numbers Improve
California Gov. Gray Davis doesn’t have his own Gulfstream jet. So while Arnold Schwarzenegger wings his way in comfort from one campaign event to the next, Davis pinballs around California on the Southwest Airlines shuttle. More often than not these days, says his wife Sharon, the other passengers burst into applause when she and the governor clamber aboard at the last minute. “It’s pretty amazing,” says California’s First Lady. “People will pass up notes that say ‘I support you.’ I can tell you that never happened before.” On a recent flight from Oakland, a young man yelled, “Hey Governor, I’ve got an idea for a campaign ad.” Davis scooted across the aisle for an impromptu consultation.

IT’S HARDLY A SCIENTIFIC sample, but the Southwest Airlines focus group has figured out the next twist in the storyline of the mind-bending, on-again, off-again California recall—Gray Davis may have a fighting chance after all. His internal campaign polls show that support for the recall, after being lodged near 60 percent since August, has now dropped to 50 percent. A poll to be released Sunday by the Public Policy Institute of California has slightly different numbers, but it too shows that support for the recall has slipped 10 points since August.

1. Good news.
Davis is not the best we have, but I hope people will support him and recognize the recall as another repug attempt to grab power and subvert democracy.

5. If the recall attempt is blocked by the people,
it will look like the biggest waste of money since .... since... I can't think of a good example, but it will make the Recall, Recount, Redistricting Reeeeepuglicans look like the idiots they are.

4. Davis has not done anything illegal, this IS a repug
grab for power using Davis as a scapegoat for fiscal problems that were to a great degree caused by the Californian rape by Enron of which Bush would not lend one helping hand.

Davis stood up to Bush and his vile sidekick Cheney and to Enron without even using a body double.

I hope that most Californians see this for what it is.

The $87 Billion that Dumbass wants in Iraq would solve a lot of problems at the state fiscal level, most of which are in the red.

Let's recall Bush and put that $87 Billion to work right here at home.

6. Like Swartz could have done any better
Davis did get the Enron shaft and the repugs/Bushco have been doing every thing in their power to block him.

They are running radio adds 24/7 stating its really about taxes

but no one seems to remember Texas chamber of commerce running adds trying to steal away califonia businesses during the hight of the energy crisis

i'm not making this up!!!

actor tries to court environmentalists amid protest
``...
Carpinteria, Santa Barbara County -- Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger was dogged by persistent protesters and hecklers Sunday, as he tried to seize the environmental mantle, proposing a $60 million "hydrogen highway" he said would provide a statewide chain of hydrogen fueling stations to help clean the air.

"As governor, I will create a network of . . . clean hydrogen fueling stations every 20 miles," said Schwarzenegger, who provided few specifics on paying for such a plan. ...

But speaking later to reporters, the actor could provide few details about his hydrogen fuel program -- except to say that 95 percent of the money would come from the federal government.

Asked how he could boast of being an environmental advocate when he owns five Hummers, Schwarzenegger instead took credit for the vehicle's popularity. ...
