GOP BIGS CAUGHT IN 'FILM'FLAM
GOP BIGS CAUGHT IN 'FILM'FLAM

By KENNETH LOVETT

February 18, 2005 -- ALBANY — State Republican officials yesterday had egg on their faces after peddling a photo they erroneously said proved that convicted terrorist supporter Lynne Stewart was a Democratic Party activist.

State GOP Chairman Stephen Minarik and party Executive Director Ryan Moses gave The Post a photo taken at a Democratic protest outside last summer's Republican National Convention.

They claimed it showed Stewart, a civil-rights lawyer, pictured with Jesse Jackson, filmmaker Michael Moore, actor Danny Glover and two Democratic councilmembers.

The problem is, the woman in the picture isn't Stewart — it's Leslie Cagan, of United for Peace and Justice, which organized the rally. Cagan and Stewart bear a resemblance.

3. Minarik................
has to be THE biggest asshole on the Atlantic Coast. Nothing that comes out of his twisted, fat mouth is the truth. He is the blowhard's blowhard. You'd think the NY GOP would rein this lying POS in, considering that the GOP's hold on the State Senate is going to disappear soon.
He reminds me of that quote from, I believe it's Shakespeare; "The tale of a fool, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing".

5. LOL
They are so hell bent on showing that she is a Democrat that they got it wrong. So what if she is a Democrat? Are they trying to make, the broad accusation that all Dem's are like her?

Well how about this for a broad accusation:
Jack Ryan (R) took wife to sex clubs.

Rush Limbaugh (R) took oxycontin illegally.

Ronald Reagan (R) 130+ members of his administration convicted/indicted for their role in such things as Iran-Contra.

GHW Bush (R) pardoned 130+ criminals from the Reagan Administration.

Neil Bush (R) Involved with prostitutes in Thailand, divorced, stole money by way of some S&L.

Donald Rumsfeld (R) Sold weapons of mass destruction to Hussein.

Henry Kissinger (R) Convicted war criminal

Ken Lay (R) Stole $13,000,000,000.00 via Enron and Arthur Anderson Accounting.

Herbert Hoover (R) Great Depression.

So here is the broad accusation: All Republicans are sexually deviant, soft on crime, drug users, who support terrorist with WMD sales because they hate us for our freedoms, commit robbery and extortion at levels of a felony, and are fiscally irresponsible.

So let me ask once again, what is the point of the picture they have?

7. Is this part true? And if so, is it relevant?
"The fact is that Lynne Stewart is a registered Democrat who was asked to speak at Democratic functions," he said.

As a NotAmerican, I don't know much about politics at this level. But as I understand it, anybody can get themselves registered as a Democrat just by filling out a few forms.

And what about "asked to speak"? Obviously, Minarik means to imply that she was a frequent Guest Star at Dem rallies, and touted as an example of what a good Democrat should be. But it could just as easily mean that she was called on once or twice to ask a question - y'know, what with her being a reporter an all.

9. It was more of a question than a point, actually.
Was this Stewart woman really involved with the Democratic Party? And if so, how involved? She couldn't have been a major player without compromising her position as a journalist...

12. Lynne Stewart may not be guilty of what she was convicted for.
Her case may be overturned.

Most of the people in power now are Fascists &/or Fundies. Moderate Republicans or Paleo-Conservatives have been pushed out of what used to be the Republican Party. The Democratic Party is all but comotose.I predict that the USA will be a Fascist Police State within two years.

23. If that case survives appeal, then I'll know that "Dubya" doesn't
have to worry about getting any judges confirmed--I'll know that repukelican totalitarians have already taken over the federal judiciary.

13. You'd think they'd give up while they're behind...
After even Gov. Pataki dumped on Minarik, you'd think they'd quietly take their lumps and move on. This is just going to keep the story (and the party's endless litany of problems in NY) in the news for another week.

a nice pic of Karl Rove at the same event and offer it as a joke. Overcome evil with good clean fun. Ridicule could be used on these jerks on an almost daily basis. Someone could even have a show......wait, I guess Jon Stewart beat me to it!

We need massive Irony Bombs and Sarcasm agents to drop on these folks on a regular schedule.

15. The 2006 slash and burn for the U.S. Senate and Governor
is in full smear mode from the GOP. They know they need the almost 2 full years of trashing and slandering Democrats in order to even have a snowball's chance in hell of beating Hillary or keeping the governor's mansion.

17. Let's not join in the demonization of Lynne Stewart.
It's fun to revel in these guys' idiocy, but let's be clear who Lynne Stewart is and what her case is about.

This is a good explanation:

18. Lynne Stewart's conviction was a travesty...
and there will be more and worse travesties to come as long as these fucks are in power. Oh yes, and Minarik is an atrocity. No human form can store so much putrid ugliness within, and I've no doubt one day he'll spontaneously combust.
