Iraq Insurgents Can Conduct 60 Strikes Daily -Pentagon
Reuters

The Pentagon has found that Iraqi insurgents can conduct up to 60 strikes a day and occasionally more, the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff said on Thursday.

"We've tracked the number of attacks per day and what they can do is 50 to 60 attacks that they are able to conduct countrywide, with spikes. And that seems to be their capacity," Air Force Gen. Richard Myers told the Senate Armed Services Committee.

Myers, who testified with Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, characterized the insurgency fighting some 150,000 U.S. forces in Iraq as "a limited capacity."

He said it was difficult to determine the number of insurgents in Iraq because "they don't have a central organization ... so as you pick up insurgents and you debrief them and you find what they have in their rooms and on their computers, you don't find the wiring diagram."

1. here is the wiring diagram:
"all you f'ing heathen foreigners get out of our country."

They will fight and die until we leave. Pretty simple.

2. No wonder Rumsfeld doesn't want to give estimates to the size of it

3. At least two or so soldiers die each day in these attacks,
or in other "accidents". Nobody will admit how many Iraqis die. Yet Bush supporters make the claim that those numbers amount to nothing; that there are ten times as many murders daily in the U.S. No big deal. Let me ask you folks: if it became clear that there were sixty or so terrorist attacks every day in the U.S., would you be concerned? Forget the casualty numbers which the repukes disregard as inconsequential. Would it not scare the shit out of you to think that there were sixty attacks daily? And this is after the much-touted election. I'd say Iraq still has a serious problem. As expected.

4. No Central Organization?
I thought everything was being coordinated through al Zaqarwi.

How fickle are we really?

Doesn't anyone remember the bogus stories of how he was the ringleader and somehow associated with Al Qaeda? How we were hot on his trail? How we found his headquarters: a building with a sign out front that read "Al Qaeda Headquarters in Iraq"??

If there is no such boogeyman and there is no such central organization and if the insurgents keep getting killed but their numbers are growing, then doesn't that mean they are being created by non-terrorists? Didn't the administration just implicitly admit that they themselves are responsible for the insurgency?

5. ok so they can track down the number of attacks which i'm going to take a
wild guess here and say they are understating but they can't or won't give an estimate of the number of insurgents? Now how does Myers know what their capacity is if he doesn't know how many insurgents there are? As their ranks grow and i imagine they will then the daily attack number will rise up with it.

In a nutshell his whole report is hooey and the news is probably far worse then we will ever know. We need "Pentagon paper" drop.

6. Oh, only 21,900 strikes a year? That is limited, I guess. N/T
