U.N. Team Predicts Rise in Terror Attacks
UNITED NATIONS - A U.N. team investigating compliance with sanctions against al-Qaida and the Taliban predicted Tuesday that brutal attacks by Osama bin Laden's followers will escalate as they still have easy access to bombmaking materials and money.

Terror attacks sponsored by al-Qaida and weapons of mass destruction are among the chief threats confronting the world, according to the team's report to a U.N. Security Council committee monitoring sanctions against al-Qaida and the Taliban.

Al-Qaida remains capable of mounting "devastating attacks" and sanctions are only having a limited effect on the group, which is still keen to acquire chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear weapons, a U.N. report said.

It is only "a matter of time" before a successful attack occurs, the report said...

1. After they missed the last memo, they took a novel approach

They decided to fire all the people who write those memos, and "Voila!" No more missed memos!

Brilliant, eh?

4. Silly United Nations.
The preznit even went there 'n told 'em to their faces we were gonna whup Osama's butt over there in Iraq.
They must not have had their earphones on.
Come to think of it, a lot of them didn't clap when the preznit was done talkin' so I'll bet they didn't have their earphones on.

5. didn't it already escalate?
the USS Cole and the embassies in Africa were one thing, but 9/11 was an escalation. But I understand the UN is slow in producing reports, so predictions made ten years ago may not make it into print until now.

10. I'd sure like to hear more specifics on this report.
I'd like to hear more in the media about it.
I'd like to hear my "government" talking about it.

If the U.N. had issued a report saying that Iran or Syria were planning attacks the media coverage and the government discussion would be 24/7.
