OTTAWA - The soaring Canadian dollar made it cheaper for Canadians to shop in the United States. But a new study by Statistics Canada says there is little evidence it has led to an increase in cross-border shopping.

... And it's not just Canadians who have been staying away from the United States recently.

"Canada has been very much like the rest of the world in shunning the United States as a destination, despite the surge in several other major currencies against the U.S. greenback," the study's author wrote.

Our friends to the North and many in Europe have made it clear they don't support the New American Imperialism, and will go elsewhere.

8. Oddities of the torture economy
As a balm for hurt nationalistic pride, torture is enormously successful. Just ask the red staters who emotionally dine out on it. Mmmmm, torture!

But strangely, it just isn't translating into foreign tourism! We need to get our best public relations people on this--make sure the positives of our torture program are being understood by Canadian shoppers!
