Ailing Catalans to try cannabis

Barcelona is planning a pilot scheme to decide whether cannabis can be used to help patients with painful illnesses.

There is still disagreement between the Catalan authorities and the Spanish government over whether the pills will be available at chemists for the trial.

Madrid would prefer to see the results of a purely hospital-based trial before sanctioning wider use.

Dozens of Barcelona chemists back the project - set to include patients with cancer, multiple sclerosis and Aids.

1. Some people have a tendency to throw up pills

That was one reason pot was so effective. You don't have to eat it, especially for someone on Chemo Therepy. It seems like they are defeating the point by making pills out it.

then liquid forms (tinctures or infusions) of cannabinoids would work.

4. Actually, I've always thought an inhalant form would be the best.

There is no reason to believe that a liquid or tincture would cause less stomach distress.

That's one of the reasons that smoking pot is effective: it bypasses the GI tract in absorption through the lungs.

The other thing that bothers me about Marinol in general is the price:

500-900 dollars a month is ridiculous price for Marinol when the equivalent street drug price would be about 100 dollars at the most.
