VA bill proposes fine for low-riding britches
http://www.ajc.com/news/content/news/stories/0205/09pants.html

RICHMOND, Va. — Virginians who wear their pants so low their underwear shows may want to think about investing in a stronger belt.

The state's House of Delegates passed a bill Tuesday authorizing a $50 fine for anyone who displays his or her underpants in a "lewd or indecent manner."

Del. Lionell Spruill Sr., a Democrat who opposed the bill, had pleaded with his colleagues to remember their own youthful fashion follies.

2. VA Republicans are so screwed. This is not the worst by a long shot!
The "morans" (read Republicans) who control our state legislature (first time in over 100 years) are on a rampage exposing their stupidity and provincialism. Here is what else they've done:

-- enacted a series of persecutory anti-Gay laws that really go after gays living together and

-- proposing a mandatory reporting requirement for all Virginia women who have a miscarriage; they must report the event with in 12 hours along with information on months pregnant, gender of the fetus, weight of the fetus, and have it signed by a physician or, get this, mortician.

They are sick and out of control.

WATCH FOR BIG CHANGES IN VIRGINIA'S STATE LEGISLATURE IN 2005.
WE ARE THE NEXT MONTANA OR COLORADO. THIS TYPE OF MEDDLING DOES NOT GO DOWN FOR LONG IN THE HOME OF JEFFERSON. YOU WATCH, THEY'RE FINISHED.

Falwell tried to throw his weight around in the '80s to get religion into our public schools. A distinguished State Senator, Philpot I believe, stood up in the state Senate and read passages from Jefferson on religious liberty and separation of church and state. The Falwell supported bill died immediately. People here are waking up to the stupidity and getting ready to throw the bums out.

Watch Warner (our great Democratic governor) throw his weight around in the state legislative elections. If he's part of throwing the Republicans out, he'll give great credence to his national ambitions.

4. Not that this mitigates it...
But I heard they dropped the miscarriage notification. I think it's original purpose had to do with holding fathers accountable for abandoned babies...but the fascist crowd tried to morph it into a bill to enbarrass young people if they have an abortion.

9. SaveElmer...thanks.
I'm glad they backed off on this one. It was such a devastating attack on women, particularly at a time when they're experiencing or vulnerable to trauma. Now they can back off on the anti-gay stuff they've enacted. VA is losing a significant number of really fine people, talented professionals and good citizens, because those people feel the heat of the anti-gay environment promoted by the Republicans in Richmond.

7. I love the low pants people who expose their underwear!
I recently watched a kid lose his pants while crossing the street
(all the while trying to act nonchalant)and it was probably the highlight of my day in the comedy dept.

But seriously...talk about a waste of the taxpayers money, I could give a rat's ass if someone wants to look foolish sporting their boxers around town instead of their pants!

10. I wonder if the classic workman's "butt crack" will be outlawed.
This could really screw up construction schedules.
