Rove Gets Bigger Role at White House
Tue Feb 8, 2005 12:19 PM ET

DETROIT (Reuters) - President Bush's senior adviser, Karl Rove, will take on a wider role in developing and coordinating policy in the president's second term, the White House announced on Tuesday.

Rove, who was Bush's top political strategist during his 2000 and 2004 presidential campaigns, will become a deputy White House chief of staff in charge of coordinating policy between the White House Domestic Policy Council, National Economic Council, National Security Council and Homeland Security Council.

Rove will continue to oversee White House strategy to advance Bush's agenda and will "make sure we have an open and fair process for the development of policy and to make sure the policy is complementary and consistent with the various councils," White House spokesman Scott McClellan said.

"He is one of the president's most trusted advisers who has played an integral role in strategy and policy development for a long time," McClellan said.

4. bush* could have picked someone with a COLLEGE DEGREE...

doesn't OUR safety demand AT LEAST a college degree? If applying through regular Federal applications, rove wouldn't get past the first step for his lack of a college degree....

rove doesn't even have the brains or the discipline to finish college...his ONLY qualification is that he's a barnyard BULLY, nasty, and sucks up to the chimp....

MOTIVATION and BRAINS" to accomplish a minimal college degree...

hell, rove flunked out of schools in texas, and that doesn't say much about his abilities....the ONLY credential that rove has: he's a BULLY, a nasty vicious BULLY....

likely he got that way because of his lack of ability in any area...so he just POUNDS ON PEOPLE...

and bush* choice emphasizes that bush* is INCAPABLE of selecting the proper personnel to serve on the White House staff....WE ARE IN DANGER...just like when conda-sleezy sat there and did nothing, as a memo flashed "Osama bin Laden determined to attack inside the USA !"

"huh"...don't ask me, I'm a Soviet Union expert...I KNOW NOTHING about any other country, including Russia....

75. People like him do not give up power in the end.
Bush would be nowhere without Rove. This is Rove's reward. I cannot wait to see what idiot Rove lashes onto next in the next Presidential election.

Being a master at lies is nothing to be proud of. Neither is being grandiose (a twenty Republican Presidency is what Rove expects), manipulative (got fired for Willie Horton), a liar (character assassinations), a baiter (wounded should be hit harder and harder), and someone who was around when electronic bugs were put into candidate's offices and blamed on the opposition at opportune times in elections. Rove wants a bigger role because Rove is empty and like Saddam Hussein will endlessly need to consolidate his power.

People like him do not give up power in the end. They just need more and more. And it would take someone as stupid as Bush to give the guy more power.

with out a college degree.

The lack of a degree does not necessarily mean one is not intellegent. And there are plenty of people with degrees that are extremely incompotent. (just look at the republican party for some examples)

37. I agree
although I have a college degree. I have never thought my degree was worth the paper it was printed on. I learned very little in college. Only thing it gave me was some sort of personal validation - that I finished something I started. I think ability or competency, or even intellectualism, have little to do with college credentials.

I see Rove as a sort of evil genius. The problem with Rove is not lack of ability or lack of knowledge - more a lack of humanity - and that is not the sort of thing taught at college.

13. Rove is the UNELECTED PRESIDENT of the USA
As the documentary "Bush's Brain" clearly stated, Karl Rove is the de-facto president of the USA in the shadows. This increase in his roles, now directly writing policy is even scarier. Karl Rove is rigth now the most influential man in the planet.

Just to remind you: Nobody elected this bastard to public office. He is an appointed official basically functioning as the real president, since Bush now is delegating even policy-making to his brain and minder: Rove.

Even darker times ahead, folks.

Edited on Tue Feb-08-05 01:56 PM by David Zephyr
Certainly, Rove has already had the job of actually being President for four years. Perhaps, since he can't have the title, he gets the office.

...or maybe they'll play "Hail to the Thief" for him on special occasions?

...or maybe he will get to poke Condi every once in a while when George feels obliged (in a good Christian way, of course) to pay more attention to Laura?

...or when Laura herself is tired of Condi?

Yeah, that's probably it. Maureen Dowd's "triangle" will become a quadruple.

When people make up tales, that's rotten, dirty tricks. When people reveal the creature behind the mask, that's good reporting. I distinguish between the two. Gone forever are the days when if you couldn't say something nice, you shouldn't say anything at all.

57. You be the judge - did Rove say this to Suskind?
There should be a law banning the morally insane from being within 1000 meters of any self-respecting democracy. Let us list the famous psychopaths: Pol Pot, Milosvech, Hussein, Idi Amin, Hitler, Stalin. George W. Bush is certainly an embarrassment for having let himself be used for so long. His father at least fired Rove after the Willie Horton thing. What a fine band of brothers. Oh and the idiot is having little problem with "grandiosity” these days. Even Peggy Noonan commented on it.

You know when you say you are going to do something and that others will take notice in awe and feel some strong emotion at your actions - that is grandiosity and a good example of how the freaks think: 1)the psychopath has no emotion but accomplishes something (some grand task) 2) many humans see it, are impressed and feel great emotion 3) that the psychopath can then witness (or imagine) that he is human because 1) & 2) took place so it is like a normal human accomplished something and emotion was involved .

"Two years ago, an unnamed Bush aide told Suskind, "We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality—judiciously, as you will—we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors ... and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do."

You be the judge!!

World leaders are trying to beseech Bush.

All of my friends are trying to defeat Bush.

I’ve even seen some signs that tell me to impeach Bush.

That ain’t gonna cut it for me.

I won’t be happy ‘til I see him do the perp walk.

Handcuffs and leg irons swingin’ to the perp walk.

Bright orange jumpsuit, stylin’ for the perp walk,

On his merry way to cell block D.

He raided my National Treasury.

Invaded a nation’s sovereignty.

That’s why I won’t be happy ‘til I see him do the perp walk

Exiting the White House, shuffling to the perp walk.

Live on TV, smirkin’ to the perp walk.

That’s democracy for me.

Lest we neglect the Bush Administration,

That gang hell bent for world domination.

Live at The Hague for their humiliation.

That is what I’d truly like to see.

‘Cause I won’t be happy ‘til I see ‘em do the perp walk.

Rove and Rummy marching to the perp walk.

Colin and Johnny dancing to the perp walk,

Getting finger printed on TV.

They acted preeminently,

Searching for those WMDs.

And now I won’t be happy ‘til I see ‘em do the perp walk.

Condoleezza Rice practicing the perp walk.

Bunker bust Cheney and make him do the perp walk.

That’s democracy for me.

But we won’t stop there, with this administration.

Set a precedent for future generations

To not be messin’ with the Peoples reputation.

And that’s the way it oughta be.

If you mess with us you get to do the perp walk.

Don’t matter if you’re rich you get to do the perp walk.

Especially Richard Nixon should have had to do the perp walk.

It’s what we call equality.

That’s the hallmark of grass roots liberty,

And U.S. Constitutionality.

So you Supreme Court Judges ain’t immune to do the perp walk.

Senators and Congressmen take turns to do the perp walk.

This whole damn government may learn to do the perp walk.

That’s democracy for me.

61. Do what?
Are they kidding? The only way he could have a bigger role is if they have a coronation ceremony and crown that evil puppeteer, and that is exactly what he is.

64. Rove Is Promoted To Deputy Staff Chief
From the Washington Post:

" During President Bush's first term, outsiders often suspected that Karl Rove was really behind virtually everything. Now it's official.

Rove, the political mastermind behind two presidential elections, yesterday was named White House deputy chief of staff in charge of coordinating domestic policy, economic policy, national security and homeland security.

<--- snip --->

The move arose out of discontent by Bush and White House Chief of Staff Andrew H. Card Jr. with what they considered a vacuum in the policy staff after the 2003 departure of Joshua B. Bolten to the Office of Management and Budget, a White House adviser said. "Since Josh Bolten went to OMB, the policy process has been a little bit loose and hasn't had the kind of discipline it used to," the adviser said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to protect relations with the White House. "Karl can do that." "

68. correct ...
and he maintains those responsibilities while taking on the new ones. I suppose this is the White House's way of being frugal ... paying one man to do the job of two. They're doing what they can to reduce the deficit, see. </sarcasm>

72. Rogue Rove
Edited on Wed Feb-09-05 05:41 AM by applegrove
I hear Rove will be replacing laura too.

I cannot wait to see what tomorrow will bring. The neocons must be shitting in their boots - cause to a sociopath - peace in the Middle East would be a bad thing.

Are you kidding? Peace in the Middle East would ruin things. There has to be an enemy.

I'm sweating and if I had anything to loose - I would be shitting my pants.

Saddam Hussein also had the same 'talents'. All he did when he got into power was consolidate his power. To hell with the country.

74. I have to say...
Rove is the only part of Shrub's staff that deserves a promotion.

I mean if you can get this idiot frat-boy elected twice, you get a new Cadillac in my book.

78. So now the PR guy is officially setting policy. Figures.
He's been doing it for years.

Oh, for the days when presidents hired experts to advise them.
