Rice meets with top Vatican official

By ASSOCIATED PRESS

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice met Tuesday with the Vatican's No. 2 official, Cardinal Angelo Sodano, and the two exchanged gifts and pleasantries before their private talks.

The Vatican was expected to issue a statement later in the day about the pair's 45-minute closed-door consultations. Rice had no plans to visit Pope John Paul II at the Rome hospital where he is being treated for flu and breathing problems.

Rice arrived at the ornate Treaty Room of the Holy See's Apostolic Palace. Asked by Sodano, the Vatican secretary of state, how the lavish chamber compared to other places she has visited on her whirlwind Europe tour, Rice responded: "It stacks up pretty well."

"It's always an honor to come to the Vatican," she said.

2. Sodano gives Rice a "thick book":
Edited on Tue Feb-08-05 11:24 AM by emad
Rice presented Sodano with a silver plate, which he quipped would be perfect for the Vatican's chocolates. Sodano, in return, gave Rice a thick hard-covered book about the Vatican's palaces and a medal with an inscription about Europe's Christian roots.

"It's not necessary to underwrite the Christian roots of America," Sodano, speaking in English, told Rice.

So, odds for an American Pope to succeed JP2 shortening dramatically?

9. Her boss in the WH is shitting bricks because Licio Gelli is in
the slammer awaiting the resumption of the Rome murder trial of "God's Banker" Roberto Calvi.

The personal implications for Junior, Poppy and Cheney are immense.

LickYer Jelly knows he and Flavio Carboni are going down for life with massive fallout implications for their stashed offshore $$$$$$$$s.

He has threatened to spill the beans in open courts about the Bushes before.

The last two years of frantic Vatican diplomacy - including visits by Shrub and Poodle - have not been of an ecumenical nature.

The Banco Ambrosiano 1982 collapse wiped $400million of fraudulent Vatican funds.

Gloves are off now after the UK's City of London Police submitted a reported 70 crates of previously unavailable evidence about Ambrosiano, Calvi and the huge financial networks of the vast Gelli family.

Four go on trial for murder of God's banker
John Hooper and Philip Willan in Rome
More than 20 years after the death of the banker Roberto Calvi was dismissed as suicide, four people, including a jailed Mafia boss, went on trial yesterday in Rome, charged with his murder.

The case of the man known as "God's banker" remains one the most extraordinary of recent decades - a whodunnit involving the Vatican, Cosa Nostra, rogue freemasons, financiers and politicians.

Only one of the four defendants, Flavio Carboni, was in court to hear the charges. The Sardinian businessman told reporters: "I know as much about Calvi's murder as I do about the killing of Jesus Christ."

Two other people who were with the doomed banker on his final journey, Mr Carboni's then girlfriend, Manuela Kleinszig, and a Rome underworld boss, Ernesto Diotallevi, are also charged with murder.

12. Thanks for the link! FreemasonryWatch looks like a lot of fun.
The articles are full of good stuff--Knights Templar, Crowley & the Brethren of the Rosy Cross. As much fun as rereading the Illuminatus trilogy.

And there are ads for David Icke's stuff, so I can keep up with the Reptilians....
