Man arrested over Omagh bombing

Detectives investigating the 1998 Omagh bombing have arrested a 34-year-old man from the Dundalk area of County Louth.

The man, who was arrested in Newry in the early hours of Monday, is being held in connection with serious terrorist offences.

Twenty-nine men, women and children died and hundreds were injured in the car bomb attack in the County Tyrone town on 15 August 1998.

The bombing was later admitted by the dissident republican Real IRA.
