No plan yet to deploy (Canadian) troops to Iraq: Pettigrew
Foreign Affairs Minister Pierre Pettigrew says Canada has no intention to send troops to Iraq.

His response came after reports that Prime Minister Paul Martin will be asked by U.S. President George Bush to deploy 40 Canadian troops to help with reconstruction efforts in Iraq. <snip>

"Prime Minister Martin has always been very clear that our contribution to the reconstruction of Iraq would not bring boots to the ground," he said. <snip>

"This was an invasion that Canadians opposed," NDP Leader Jack Layton said. <snip>

3. Fuck that shit.
See my sig pic? Fighting for freedom is NOT what's going on. Never was, never will be.

bush shouldn't have to ask for a measly 40 troops anyway, especially if he's unconcerned with 1500 of his fellow Americans dead.

4. "bush shouldn't have to ask for a measly 40 troops anyway"
.
.
.

He doesn't "need" them for the manpower, he needs them and wants them to be able to say to the world

"See . .? Even them peace-luvin Canuks realize we were right to invade.

They were just slow to come around, that's all"

or sumpthin like that - -

That's how I read it anyhoo

5. 40 soldiers?
That's got to be a misprint. They wouldn't be able to secure their own barracks.

8. Well I think we'd need more than one
to secure Baghdad.

Not more than 5 though.

You misunderstood the comment.
